Violence In Kano by prettyG: 10:00am On Feb 22, 2012
Gunshots and explosions rang out early on Wednesday in Kano, local residents said, in a region beset by violence by Islamist sect Boko Haram.

Clashes between Boko Haram gunmen and security forces have flared up several times in Kano since the sect killed 178 people in Nigeria's second largest city last month, in its deadliest attack so far.

"We were stopped from coming out for our early morning prayers, we couldn't leave the house. About 5am (0400 GMT) the gunshots and explosions started and they haven't stopped," Stephen Ahmed, a local Kano resident, told Reuters by phone.

A police spokesman declined to give comment and the army was not contactable.

Re: Violence In Kano by worm(f): 10:58am On Feb 22, 2012
I learnt it was a police BARRACK that was attacked. Where police and their families stays, you can imagine women and children that will be killed in this attack. If this Boko can confront a police barrack with armed brigades stationed outside then it is really getting out of hand. People normally seek refuge in the police station/barracks during violence and now station and barrracks are the prime targets. What is happeninggggggggggggggggg??

Re: Violence In Kano by harakiri(m): 10:59am On Feb 22, 2012
These everyday shootouts and bombings is getting boring. Can't Boko Haram come up with something worth reading? Aren't they bored of killing their own kit and kin senselessly? Abeg, make dem go back to the drawing board jor.

Unfortunately, the deterioration in country risk affects the entire country and not just the North. This is the more reason we need to discuss on the continuity of this fractious and turbulent union.

Unfortunately our leaders don't care for the poor. National assembly don't want SNC b/c they BH sponsor.
