Just calculate the tenure, add it to the day your account was debited. That is your maturity date.

Thanks

I am grateful for your insightful breakdown.
But where my problem lies is that a friend of mine purchased tbills as at nov last year at 10% for 91 days With 9m.
8m was deducted while 1m was left as his upfront.
So why has the yield dropped in a short period of time?

Your friend's purchase couldn't have been for 91 days. That 1mil implies approx. 11.1% yield, and the 8mil will be held for a full year.

I do not advise anyone to invest in treasury bills until the new government has settled down.

A lot of things are crashing now.

hehehehe!! cheesy

the rates will even crash more as foreign investors become more confident of our polity.

better lock in ur funds now in long term bills at the present high rates..

I expect the 91 days bill to drop to as low as 7% in the coming months

If inflation continues to rise then rates for Tbills will rise as well

It means your bid was successful and you will get your 600k in 91 days. The difference between 600k and what was removed from your account is your interest paid up front.

I just got a call from my bank that my primary bid wasn't successful @ 10% for 91 days, and they offered my an option in the secondary market for 10.5% @ 97 days...

House pls what are the differnces in the primary and secondary market. I am getting a higher rate for the secondary market..What are the merits and de-merits.

N2,500

Step 1

10% of N100,000 gives you N10,000. this should be for 364 days since bank's interest is usually per annum

Now to get your interest for 1 day what you do is N10,000/364 which gives you approx N27.5

Finally to get your interest for 91 days, multiply by N27.5 ie 91X27.5 which approx N2,500

Step 2

10% of N100,000 gives you N10,000. this should be for 364 days since bank's interest is usually per annum

91 days is 1/4 of 364 days. so divide N10,000 by 4 ie 10,000/4. gives you N2,500
