Interests are on per annum basis or pro rated if less than a year tenure is applied.
In this case the interest will be :
About 250k ie 1m divided by 3/12 or 91/364 × 1m.
Subtract the bank custodian fees and other sundry charges as well.

Bia chairman, are you a money doubler? 1m for just 91days?
Aaahhh!
10,000,000><10 /100=1,000,000
i.e for a year is 1,000,000
for 6 month(186days) is 1m divide by 2--N500,000
for 3months(91days) is 1m divide by 4---N250,000

TENOR (DAYS) STOP RATE

Hmmmm, mind blowing knowledge here. I've been ripped off with FD. Early march this year I did a FD of 600k with GTB for 6% for 6month. Last month I entered into anoda FD of the same amount with fidelity Bank for 1 yr.

I think I ll liquidate all of them next week and go TBILLS.

Any advice pls.

I think you should. You would actually get twice the rate the banks are giving you for FD. You will get about 12.8%(prevailing rate for 182 days) compared to the present 6% you are getting from FD. Before you now factor in the fact that you get your interest upfront and there is no 10% tax.

I'd thought and have always believed Tbills auctions are being carried out fortnightly. However, judging from your last posted result for the 17th June, 2015 primary market auction , and this very result that I've quoted, which I presumed was for an auction that took place yesterday; thus, negating the popular notion - primary market auction usually occur every 2 weeks. Or are there some conditions that brought about this? Or has the Tbills primary market auction schedule terms been changed recently?

Besides, considering the recent state of Nigerian politics and the political instability currently experienced by the ruling government, party in power and the Nigerian people, do you think it's a good time to invest into the FG Tbills? Maybe I'm just scared of locking my funds, and fearful just in case any unforeseen (God forbid) political occurrence befall the country, which makes investors capital unsafe and insecure.

What's your take on this, sir?

If you follow the Tbills Time table someone posted here some weeks back you will know that there is an auction this week.

Tbills will forever remain the safest instruments just like the FGN bonds if you want to do longer tenor investments..

As for this one, I missed my bid but am now going to buy from the secondary market... cant afford to see my money wasting in my bank current account especially in this time that even tomatoes price don skyrocket cheesy

We all started from somewhere. Let them ask, better than making uniformed decisions. I do however agree they need to read through the thread.

Before you can purchase through any bank, you must have an account (savings/current) with such. In addition, based on what I've read on the thread thus far, First bank does not allow their customers to bid by themselves, meaning you go with their own successful bid rate for any given auction. I hope this helps.
