I have been debited dis evening.....i bank with skyebank and i have noticed that the lower bid rates get preferential treatment, i mean those who quoted 15% - 17% are attended to before others i.e for the 182day tb.

First bank just sent my money back to me saying "Failed NTB transaction". Is this a joke or something? How are we sure these banks are not trying to keep our money with them instead of keying it in T.bills on our behalf. I wish everyone can bid directly without having to go through these banks.

Yes you can bid through first capital but their charge is higher than the recommended government rate. All you need is a Fidelity securities account, its a 1 day process and you are good to go, again, it is easier to use the security company of your bank so that fund transfer will attract no charge and you will have to worry less about paperwork and identification since the bank already have your data

I hope their quotes/rates for secondary market are good?

Response needed urgently for I want to invest in Tbills through GTBank in the secondary market.

Ill-luck for me with GTB. Both 91days and 182 unsuccessful.

verbatim from my account officer:

The bids for 91days and 182days were unsuccessful.

So,your requests could not be processed.

Anyone have a suggestion on the next step after this let down?

Hello Everyone,

Well, i got a debit for my bid yesterday and an alert for the upfront interest few hours later.

It was for 182 days and the bank gave me 17.1%(from my calculation). Though it was lower than the official 17.5%, but i'm really pleased with it, i only lost about N2,991.

As for the bank, it's not one of those banks that a lot of people will agree with, but my TB experiences with them for few years now has always been amazing. I don't know if it's just my branch though.

From my search, I saw a detailed CBN rate guide that says commission to buy Treasury Bills for customers is 0.125℅ of the yield. But that was a 2013 document and might be dated.

What is the commissions your bank's are charging you for Treasury bill purchase? Can you also state with bank it is?

Also, are there any other fees associated with Treasury bill purchases?

Its still 0.125% commission fee for Stanbic.

I don't know of any other fee...

Pls hse, which one is Tbiĺls custody fee. Will the deduction be made all the time?

u could calculate the rate from the interest u received or ask for an investment certificate, where everything would spelt out.
