The local govt elections in Delta state is supposed to have been been conducted last year after the incubent Chairmen's tenure expired in june 2011 and the state government appointed caretakers to take over d administration of the LG. But 7 months after, Local Govt elections are yet to be conducted and no timetable released.
Why doesn't d state govt want to conduct d election? The chief reason is because of the local govt allocations. The state govt is not releasing the allocations fully. They just release peanuts to caretakers and pocket the rest. As a result, the LGs can't initiate any meaningful projects.
Deltan, let us come together to compel the state govt to conduct a local govt elections within the next two months and stop the wanton looting and impoverishment of our dear state.
