Bayern Munich coach Jupp Heynckes has declared enough is enough after his side's 1-0 defeat to Basle in the Champions League on Wednesday.

That result has compromised the Bavarian club's chances of reaching the final in their own stadium this season and he is expecting a clear reaction against Schalke in the Bundesliga tomorrow.

"The 1-0 in Basle was a game which should have shaken everybody up now,'' he said.

"We now need to go in a different direction, all together.

"We need to become a unit again as quickly as possible and teamwork is the priority - the personal interests of individual players must be put to one side.''

Bayern have slipped four points behind Borussia Dortmund at the top of the table and they cannot afford to lose tomorrow against a side who are just one point behind them.

"We are in a precarious situation,'' admitted Heynckes at the pre-match press conference.

"We are no longer playing the fluid, self-confident football that we were before the winter break.

"Now everybody in the team must work on us getting this success back.''

Schalke had a more successful week as they booked their place in the last 16 of the Europa League with a 3-1 win over Viktoria Plzen.

They needed extra time to see of their Czech opponents, although their coach Huub Stevens does not see tiredness as a potential obstacle to victory in Munich.

"When you win a game and celebrate a success then it is easier to put 120 minutes behind you,'' he said.

"Our aim now is to regain our strength as quickly as possible after the Plzen game.''

Tomorrow's game also pits the Bundesliga's top goalscorers together.

Klaas Jan Huntelaar scored a hat-trick in midweek and is in top form as he looks to dislodge Mario Gomez from the top of the scoring charts, but Stevens has warned that the game is "Schalke against Bayern and not FC Huntelaar against FC Gomez''.

Kyriakos Papadopoulos is a doubt for the Royal Blues after being caught in the face in a clash against Plzen while Christian Fuchs and Chinedu Obasi also picked up knocks on Thursday.

Bayern are still without Bastian Schweinsteiger, but Diego Contento was back in training yesterday and is an option for the squad.
