Following the visit to China by top government official under the leadership of the Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, recently, the Federal government has sealed a deal to set up 100 rice mills across the country.
The Minister of Agriculture, Akinwumi Adeshina, who was part of the delegation made the announcement Wednesday in Abuja after the weekly meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) in the state house. What of the other partnerships set up in years past? What became of them?

It is better that we don't have to import the rice we eat, which is more shameful than the Chinese collaborating with the FG to set up the rice mills.

Its not the best, but we should stop deluding ourselves, we are not able to do it ourselves at this point.

Only if the politicians will allow it to work.

Another revenue for Okonjo Iweala and the rest of dem to dey chop our money, make una remember say God dey!!

Is it rice that is our problem now?? Electricity, insecurity, insufficient water supply, bad roads, bad governance, no jobs,

I disagree with the federal governement, our problem in Nigeria is not rice mill. Our problem is rice production not rice milling. If we can produce enough rice in Nigeria today, we have alot of milling machines, even rice destoners are everywhere now. Pls mr president consolidate on rice production which is the step one, step two which is rice milling can come after.

And from where will the rice be sourced from? How many years will construction last? when will production begin? He-ediots

Consequently, the minister said, Nigeria has adopted the Chinese hybrid rice for large scale production of the staple food in the country.

“China has what is called high breed rice which gives yield of 12 tons per hectare. The Chinese have in fact found a way doubling it in a year and gets up to 24 tons per hectare.
“If we can get this hybrid rice in Nigeria to work for us at such scale, we will be there. We will assure the food security not just of today but for the future.

“We are already testing the high breed rice in Kebbi State and we are getting 8 tons per hectare and we are still going to test it across the entire country,” he said.

if the federal govt does something abt electricity, the same people would come here and yab them,

propose solution, atleast something, NA WAEC AND JAMB
