The LED TV is an improvement of the LCD TV. It consumes less power and produces images with greater dynamic contrasts but it is more expensive than LCD TVs. I think that at the end of the day both TV types can adequately satisfy your gaming needs as the gains from using an LED in place of an LCD are marginal. Go for the LED if cost isn't an issue otherwise a decent LCD TV will do. |

There are no "LED TVs". The LED only applies to the back-light technology used. In other words, "LED TV" = LCD TV with LED BACK-LIGHTING instead of CCFL, which only improves trivial/pedantic stuff. Picture-quality wise, it's the same TFT technology utilized by "regular" LCDs. Don't be deceived by Sony, LG, etc deceptive advertising!!!  |

dy_droy: Unless you have some type of bionic eyesight I doubt that a regular viewer will notice any significant gains in LED TVs as opposed to LCDs. |

Place a smart LCD TV beside an LED TV, and you can't tell the difference regarding picture quality.  |

LCD is fine with me, but I do notice the chalky picture due to low contrast, and that is only at night. Plasma should not be an option regardless. Just go with LED LCD combo or plain LCD. (I would say get Samsung or Sony, they are the best LCD tv's for the price.) |

LEDs are better that LCDs but you might not even notice the difference unless you pay close attention to details. The price difference isn't that much either, ranges from $10-$50 depending on the product type. |

Depends if your hdtv is 720p 1080i or 1080p and the type of cable your connecting game with(HDMI or RCA cable). Hence I don't think there would be any much of a difference there. 1 Like |

I don't think many folks here realise that the OP is asking which of the TV types is best for the PS3. Any decent LCD TV that can handle images at 1080p will be able to perform just as good as any LED. How many people here can honestly identify the difference? |
