For Muslims: Should Sharia Be Enacted In A Secular Society? by Knight1(m): 8:58am On Mar 02, 2012
Sharia is the legal code by which Muslims abide.
However in some countries and even states in Nigeria e.g Zamfara grin, where there is purportedly freedom of religion, and non muslims dwell in substantial numbers, Sharia is enacted as a state law (which means everyone regardless of religion has to abide by it). So my question (especially to my MIA LagosShia cool ) is

Does the Quran encourage muslims to enact Sharia as state law in secular Societies just because they have the majority in the parliament/ or general population majority?

1. Many Africans are concerned about religious extremism, including within their own faith. Indeed,
many Muslims say they are more concerned about Muslim extremism than about Christian
extremism, and Christians in four countries say they are more concerned about Christian extremism
than about Muslim extremism

Your answer is there on page 11 (19 of 331)
71% of Nigerian muslims want Sharia to be applied
70% of Nigerian christians want Biblical code to be applied. So polygamy would be a crime for instance

This report was originally posted on Nairaland by a Christian, who as usual, distorted it. See

Lying is the favourite sport of christians

I'm surprised at the Christian percentage.

what i wanted us to discuss particularly for regular guys here is the properness of combining RELIGION (not morals) and STATE.

OKay. SO you support, for example the application of Sharia in the NOrthern states, which broadly applies to everyone irrespective of their faith, (or lack of it)?
Do you also note that that application is sponsored by public funds?

Why is the penal code of a nation not enough? and if it is inadequate, can't they be amended to be adequate?

WHy should the state prosecute/punish offences against God?

And, why should a single country or state have a more than one code?
