Ojukwu Made The Unity Of Nigeria Possible – Ribadu! by BlackPikiN(m): 6:10pm On Mar 04, 2012
Nnewi (Anambra) – The Chairman of the Task Force on Petroleum Revenue, Malam Nuhu Ribadu, says the former Biafran leader, the late Dim Chukwumeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, made the unity of Nigeria possible.

Ribadu made the remark on Sunday when he paid a condolence visit to the family of the late Ojukwu at Umudim, Nnewi, Anambra State.

Ribadu, who was in company of the former Bauchi governor, Alhaji Adamu Muazu, and other notable Senators from the North, said, “we have all come from all parts of the country to celebrate a great leader.

“He was one individual who made the unity of this country possible. We have struggled to become a nation. But Ojukwu made it possible’’.

‘’We lost a father. To all of us we lost a hero. All of us, the entire country have come to celebrate him. It’s one individual that will forever remain part of our history.

“He did well for his people, he did well for his country. He changed and transformed us as a country.

‘’We all pray. May his soul rest in peace. We feel that there is a purpose for him. Dim did his own, he did well. We will continue to associate him with what Nigeria is today. May that his soul rest in peace.

‘’He is one individual who stood for what he considered justice. He fought for it. A country that is for justice and fairness, a country that is all embracing, a country that has struggled to become a nation; ojukwu made it possible.”

In the same vein, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Victor Umeh, said that all the ideas and legacies left behind by the late Ikemba Nnewi must be strictly adhered to.

Umeh, who led members of APGA worldwide, including Governors Peter Obi of Anambra and Rochas Okorocha of Imo, on the condolence visit, said it would be a difficult task to replace the late Dim Ojukwu.

“We have come here today to pay our last respect to our leader, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, who has had a very wonderful burial that none ever before can compare with since this country started.

“Today is a very solemn moment for our party. Having come here today, we have now accepted that our leader has departed. We want to condole with the family and also to reassure them that Dim Ojukwu remains the leader of APGA.

“Even in death, we will have no other leader in this party except Dim Chukwuemeka Ojukwu. That was what we agreed upon eight years ago. He will be our leader and even when he leaves us, nobody will replace him as our leader.

“What we shall do is that we shall consider appointing a deputy national leader over time, somebody who will be helping him to perform his duties in the physical realm.

‘’From the terrestrial heights above, Ojukwu remains our guiding light because we don’t have any other better name to use in this party than Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu.

“He was the pillar of this party. We used him to garner electoral victories. The immense electoral victories we have in this party largely will come from Ojukwu. So, we will continue to use his name to go back to the electorate.

“Before he left us, he installed two governors in Nigeria. He was able to install Governor Peter Obi twice in Anambra State. He was on his sickbed in London, we installed Rochas Okorocha.”

In his remarks, Gov. Obi said that Ojukwu’s successful burial was the beginning of his immortalization.

“I leave this as the assessment. When you assess the burial, then you will know how we will immortalize him. This is the beginning of immortalization.” (NAN)

So glad that at least one SEer realized that many of these statements are being made just because they seem the right thing to say, not because these people actually believe themselves. In that case, those running into town proclaiming immortality for Ojukwu on the basis of these words are the ones deceiving themselves.

Many of these statements are exactly like Ojukwu's statement about Awo as the "Best President Nigerian never had."

These statements appear to be favorable on the sufface but are completely vacuous statements of convenience.

Ojukwu made Nigeria's unity possible in the same way that Awolowo was the best president, without ever being president.

My signature? It is a declaration of personal independence from the crap that Luggard put together in 1914.

If Lord Luggard were alive today, he would certainly be amazed that some people still consider this act of his almost like the comand of God. He will certainly be surprised that while the leaders of this nation pay lip service to the real word of God, they would rather let the nation collapse on 150 million people than make any adjustments to its set up.

It is inevitable that this Nigeria will soon collapse under the weight of lies that make up its foundation.

I'm happy that most Igbos are not moved by these statements made by people who are seeking cheap relevance. We know who our friends are and we know our enemies.
