Hi All,

I am starting this thread so we can discuss pregnancy and all the joys, anticipation, expectation and all aspects of this beautiful time in a woman's life.
At times pregnancy can be very difficult and may even become life threatening, when conditions such as pre-eclamsia,gestational diabetes, Incompetent cervix, PPROM etc.  So lets use this space to discuss all aspects of this process.

Nothing in relation to pregnancy is off limits, lets share our experience and support each other in a caring respectful way. Doctors can only give so much advice, but i know first hand peer support is equally important.

So lets start talking!

Below are a list of ladies that have included their delivery dates, lets keep them in mind by praying and meditating and sending them positive energy, I will update the list reguarly, just include the month you are due. I will also update once you confirmed you have delivered. This will allow ladies to see others that are due around the same time as themselves and perhaps you may find a pregnancy "buddy". Its not a must that you include this info to join the thread, we welcome everyone.

My wife was in her seventh month of pregnancy when suddenly one night she woke up and alas there was fluid all over the bed. i was scared to the bone cos i've never seen such a sight in my whole life and i don't pray to see such again. i immediately rushed her to a hospital nearby where she uses for antenatal. there the doctor on duty said she had premature rupture of the membrane. they administered Ergometrine in a bid to stop the bleeding little did they know that it worsen the situation cos the baby died in her womb hours later without their notice. at dawn i observed that no test or scan had been carried out and i called the medical director's attention to it, all he could do was to give me a referral letter when he knew he was not a specialist. i later got to a specialist doctor who confirmed the baby dead after series of test and scan and he opted for evacuation. it was really a sad scenario.

my point however is that getting pregnancy tips is one thing while getting a qualified doctor who is ready to work is another most especially when things don't go as planned. the doctors i met that night knew she has a contraction and they would have just carried out basic delivery methods possible but they didn't blaming it on lack of incubator and other flimsy excuses

This is so sad, i read it crying (now people are looking at me wondering what the matter could be). God will surely comfort you both with another that will bring nothing but joy to your household.

@ Rockamania, Your wife and yourself must have been devastated by such a traumatizing experience.  Im so sorry it had to happen. I wont even go into incompetency issues as its been discussed time and again on this forum. Im sure you'll hear the cry of a baby in your household soon.

As for me, im 33 weeks preggers with my first child. Its been a roller coaster of emotions from anxiety to joy, to depression, to crying for no reason all sorts. I cant complain though cos there's been no complications at all, although the first trimester was a nightmare. This last trimester is not easy as well as im always tired, heavy, i just want to get rid of this bundle of weight on me and have the baby in my arms.

I'd say more about my fears and hopes as the thread goes on,

Looking forward to seeing more fab moms to be on this thread! smiley

i was in my 32nd week when i woke up one day to find my bed soaked. My water broke and there was no labour pain so my hubby rushed me to the hosp where i was placed on immediate bed rest and steroid injection to ripen the baby's lung. I had to go thru cs cos the water was completely drained and the baby was getting weak. After the baby was delivered he was kept in the incubator but i must tell u the next 48hrs was hellish for my family cos the baby was nt coping outside at all he couldnt breath on his own well. The doc told my hubby to be strong and dat they didnt see the baby surviving but as we all know man proposes God disposes he made it thru to every ones surprise. My advise is that husbands pls dont stress ur wife during pregnancy at all. I was under a lot of emotinal stress at the time so i want to believe that must ave triggered my son's early arrival.

Hi all,

Wow what a great response, and to all the subscribers we are gonna try to stay on track the goal is to help each other. wink

@ sheyee You can take a malaria drug that is safe to use during pregnancy, consult with your doctor and verify with your pharmacist befor you take any medication taht it is safe to use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

@mjconcept pprom happens when the water (sac) the baby is inside breaks prematurely befor full term has been acheived in the pregnancy. This is very dangerous, because the mom runs the risk of infection, and delivering the baby early which also has complications associated with it.

@aaro007 its a great thread and we wont let, negative elements stop it, good shall always conquer evil

@oknee congrats on your pregnancy and wishing you a very safe delivery, once you are 37 weeks its classified as full term

@rockmania my heart goes out to you as i read your post i was in tears, remembering when i lost my 5 month pregnancy, the feeling is so raw still and its been almost 3 years. To an extent if i was examined properly they would have seen that i was in preterm labour even though my water did not break, this happened in Canada, so i cant even blame anybody in Nigeria for it. One year later i conceived again and that pregnancy was incredibly scary omg, but to g-d be the glory, my son is turing 2 in July. I started this thread because all the symptoms i noted in my first post are the complications that landed me in the  high risk pregnancy unit for a few months i stayed in the hospital on bedrest. Hoping and praying me and my son will make it out alive, G-d is faithful and he will see you and your wife through, your home will be filled with little feet running everywhere. smiley What i want to suggest is that you find out where the pediatric hospitals in your area are and if they have incubators, also with your wife's PPROM, she may need to take progesterone or p-17 shots next pregnancy so he waters dont break prematurely again, please especially if you are in Nigeria where doctors are "not int eh know how" educate yourself and speak to your doctors with your recommendations for your healthcare.

@ IB welcome and congrats on your pregnancy, wishing you a wonderful third trimester and a safe delivery, make sure you come back and tell us about the labor experience

At all lets continue to share we are only moving forward and not looking back cheesy

@Ib
I pray for that you will deliver like a Hebrew woman. No pain and sorrow shall come your way. You will not experience labour but straight delivery without pain.

Your household will rejoice that a new born baby is born in your home and the child will be a blessing to his/her generation. Go and deliver in peace. You will never ask or lack to feed the child. Angels shall be at your door step to welcome your baby and will deliver the blessings that Jesus received when He was born.My family and myself shall be putting you in our prayers.

@Jumsnarol welcome to the thread I understand stress in pregnancy especially from your partner, I had pre-eclamsia and a host of other complications. To make a long story short i delivered my son @ 25 weeks, it was the scariest day of my life, my son spent 6 weeks on the ventilator which breath for him. In all we spent 3 1/2 months in the NNICU which was a total rollarcoaster, i cried everyday and almost went mad in the process. To g-d be the glory my son is turning 2 in July and he is doing wonderfully, he has completly caught up and is a very normal, mischevious  wink 19 month old G-d is wonderful

No complications whatsoever, just that nowadays, I find it very difficult toget out of bed, I sleep till late in the morning and I find myself waking up @ odd times in the night feeling so hungry, in all, I'm grateful, I just can't wait to have my little one in my hands though he/she won't show sex when I went for scan which has made clothes shopping very difficult, I just had to with unisex clothes, I'm excited all the same!

I am SO sorry to hear about your loss and what you and your wife endured. Children are a gift from GOD and he's the one who knows the best. I pray things are well and that God will answer your prayers for more children. For every bad that happens, there is always good to follow. Keep your eye on the prize and keep your faith.

I'm in the US and couldn't began to think choosing a doctor who's credentials or his poor quality of work was not up to my standards.  Health care is so important. may God bless.

Welcome and wishing you a happy and safe delivery, you'll be full term in 2 weeks wink, so from that point baby can come at any time. Sounds like you need to stock up the fridge, now is the time when the baby is putting on the most weight in preperation for living outside the womb. So your LO (little one) has been playing hide and seek everytime you have a scan, lol well you got a lot more courage than me ooooo. I am so nosey im not sure i could have waited this long, I would probably go for other scans shocked just to find out oooo wink

So so sorry for your loss, please take heart and stay strong. Your story reminded me of a family friend here in Australia who had a similar experience to yours. I could not believe it when the Ambulance people informed her that she had to be AIR-LIFTED to the nearest General hospital that her case is quite urgent (driving would mean she would get to the hospital 5 hours later and that was considered too risky for the baby). That very day within an hour she was delivered of the baby otherwise the baby would have died. I dont understand why your doctors did not see that your wife's case is an urgent one and that delivering the baby should be the first step. May the Lord comfort you and your family, and answer your prayer for more children IJN.
