Armed men suspected to be Fulani militants invaded Kadarko Yesterday, 08/03/2012, at about 7.30 pm. They used sophisticated arms during the shooting spree that lasted for about 30 minutes after which they hurried fled in a waiting bus towards Lafia. An eye witness, Terna Orngu, a Tiv farmer near Gidan Sule, close to Kadarko, whose younger brother was killed in the attack said the attackers targeted mainly Tivs, many of whom are refugees who had fled their villages to stay in the town because of sustained attackd by armed fulani herdsmen. As at the time of filing this report, six bodies, including that of a uniformed policeman, had been recovered. Kadarko is a commercial town in Keana local govt area of Nassarawa state, it is located along the ever-busy Makurdi-Lafia highway. Details will follow.

Sadly true; 'na nigeria govt give dem power'. If not, how can such things contiued non-stop and, yet, govt remains silence? Gradually, nigeria is descending into a lawless state where every group must get arms to protect itself. The so-called northern governors never mentioned this fulani issue during their series of meetings; obviously because they own most of the cattle herds that room the hinterland. May be it cost less to buy arms for nomads to kill villagers and occupy their lands than to buy lands for ranches.

UPDATES; Sixteen (16) persons have been confirmed dead in the attack on Kadarko. Though few other non-Tivs were killed, the attack was said to have mainly targeted Tiv farmers who had brought their farm produce to the market for sale. Although Calm is returning to the town, which is the biggest market in Keana LGA, palpable fear of further such attacks has gripped the people. There are also fears that the Tivs who are in majority in that town might respond. Speculation is rife that certain non-Tivs who have been identified as leading and pointing out the Tivs to the attackers might not be spared. The Nassarawa state govt could do well to prevent further bloodshed by a timely and firm intervention.
