ekpriobong: Akwa Ibom was actually named after the Qua Iboe river. Akwa Ibom can be referred to something big in magnitude. Akwa itself means Big while Ibom there is use to express how big it is. Uyo is Bush Mango tree (in Efik/Ibibio) that the fruit is used in cooking raw soup. The Igbos really know about this tree.

Ikorodu means oko odu. A vegetable (odu) farm.

Ikorodu is a conscription of oko odu which means odu farm. odu is a vegetable widely planted in ikorodu before people started settling there

Maurice45: Aso Rock. D displaced gwari indigenes of asokoro in abuja, in their gwari language. "aso" means victory, asokoro means people of victory. Its such a nice sight wit a gud meaning for Nigeria's seat of power 'aso rock'

According 2 yoruba history "Benin" is Ile Ibinu (land of anger)as its king Oranmiyan d son of oduduwa was said to have left d kingdom in anger after discovering treachery from some of his native chiefs. Ile-Ife means "home of expansion" due to the fact that it is regarded as where all the Yorubas originated from

Aiyepe ijebu: the town call Aiyepe is coined from the phrase '' oju aiye pe'' which means the world is represent here. That why the town is made up of all the YORUBA ethic. Ijebu, Remo, Ife, Egba etc.

Ikorodu is a city in lagos state, the name is coined from the word Oko-Odu, meaning Odu farm, its a traditional leaf know predominantly in the area, alot of the early inhabitant cultivate this tree for domestic purpose.

Arochukwu means 'God's Spear' in Igbo.
Enugu aka Enu-ugwu means 'top of the hill' in Igbo.
Cross River State was name after the River Cross River.
Abia state is an acronym for its original four LGAs.
