Is it that nigeria web developers are not open minded when it come to name of web site.
Must there be a 9ja, nija, naija in the site, na wow o

Just goes to show the lack of imagination that plagues this industry. It seems that being creative isnt present in their dictionary at all.

Naaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am not buying your assumption ! every body knows 9ja is like a nick for nigerians as well as NG is an abbreviation, so some people just like to show it off as in proudly 9ja!!! so it is not bad.
You can give advice to people that dont mix it well in their domain name as in using ngstore.com does not sound well like naijastore.com
They are just proud of their country, dont hate just give advice!!

Although no much need for those abbreviation in you domain since there is a country specific Tld now as in (.com.ng)

is there anybody else in the house supporting me ?

Nooooooooooooooooope !! Ur on ur own mate...take a domain name like 9jahoster.com smiley and lets say whogohost.com.ng amongst the two which one seems more professional even though they both use unconventional name patterns. Its whogohost.com.ng without a doudbt, first of all 9jahoster.com sounds to generic makes the website sound like.....RAZZ. Not only that but look at websites that start with Naija, 9ja , Nija etc they all look poorly built so naming ur site with these kind of names will most likely have the effect of associating your website with having a poor design.

Lastly if u want to proudly show off proudly NAIJA ders .COM.NG, simple and effective, it lets u focus on coming up with a cool name without having to worry about adding Nija,9ja etc to make it sound more Nigerian.

A domain is only as good as its content. Put up naijaboys.com and give 2 dollars to every visitor (per visit) and the whole world won't break a sweat about the "naija" domain.

The coming of the .com.ng TLDs sure would help reduce the use of the "-ng", "9ja" domains.

About 9jahoster and whogohost. Nothing more professional about either of the domains. I can't imagine being in a high profiled board meeting and I am asked what company will handle the hosting of the million dollar application I am presenting and I say "9jahoster" or "whogohost" with all confidence. So both domains are unconventional and can only be relevant and professional if a top quality brand is built out of them. Back to the board meeting and its is a nationally known fact that "9jahoster" and "whogohost" are the best web host service providers in Nigeria, sure I can confidently mention them in the board meeting.

So you two put yourselves in the same tight corner when you chose your domains and only you two can tell if you will build or are already building a brand out of your names.

It will help for all of us to think outside the box when choosing domains names, now that we have a .com.ng. Lots of surprisingly available .com.ng domains out there now.

I personally do not like domains with "naija" and its other variations.

Offtopic: Deji, your arguments this time are sound and thought provoking unlike some months back when all you did was slam us with 9jahoster ads. I know we had some issues and it really wasn't personally, I just wanted to preserve the integrity of the board. So hope we are good. You have one free shot to throw at me if it'll make us even though wink tongue

Re: Nigerian Webmaster And Host Name by Slyr0x(m): 11:59am On Mar 20, 2012
I believe the "naija" word will definitely LIMIT your outreach. .

Before starting a business, one of the questions one should ask oneself is "Who is My Audience?". .If you intend localizing your business or perhaps your target is just Nigerians, then having "naija" would be a good idea. . .But what then happens if you now want to enlarge your coast?

You didn't understand my post bro. .

The reason why you don't see sites like canaboys.com or buycana.com is because they aint limiting their business to just canadians. .I mean why should you limit your business growth when every entrepreneur's dream is to expand. Such mistakes are called foundational errors. .One we should NEVER make. .

Imagine if Zuckerberg had named Facebook "HarvardBook". .This woulda made "HarvardBook" quite unpopular beyond Harvard walls.

So we literally saying the same thing.

9ja Hoster is not a fraud !

These are the explanation behind hostcoal situation.

Hostcoal opt for "super alpha master reseller" when this plugin was at a beta level, unfortunately, everything works well for her except that the zamfoo reseller plugin refuse to work on her account, we opened ticket for her at zamfoo helpdesk for them to resolve her case. But she had no patience maybe because she advertised her business before setup was complete and she is eager to have it running.

She never opt for refund but threatened to blackmail if the situation was not fixed, since the issue is not the server's fault but a third party plugin there was less we can do for her while the issue is being fixed by zamfoo (the reseller plugin vendor).

when the issue was fixed, she was sent an email and she was called several times to make her know that it was fixed. Afterwards she only replied the email saying that she has gone somewhere else.

How is this a fraud ?
