I just got a Nigerian used Volvo S40 (1998) Model Automatic with a mileage of about 58,000. The car has been parked for like 4 months because the owner got 2 other cars and he has not been driving it. I want to take the car to mechanic tomoro for servicing, please, i will like to know if i should top the transmission fluid or drain the old fluid and add fresh one, also what kind of transmission fluid do you advise i used for the car.

it is wrong to top up the gear oil, kindly scan the vehicle, drain the ATF and refill with Dextron 111

Yes, but i got it from the US. I used AMSOIL multi vehicle synthetic atf and the performance has been smooth.

remove ur transmission dip stick check d both side very well, you will see the speck dia, might b Type T IV

Just acquired a Prado 2003, the ATF leaks and I ensure I top it up with dextron 11 or 111 as specified in the manual. Now, before my reverse engages, @ times when hot, I have to rev to over 3000 rpm. What do I need to do. - drain the atf completely and fill up again? What could also be responsible for the leakage, though not much but I know it is risky. Am in Lagos - if I know I have to prepare for - in terms of cost, I won't mind bringing it to your w/shop to be fixed. 08033259595

Oando Dextron III

The biggest setback on transmission fluids for vehicles in Nigeria is vast availability of fake ATFs.

The market has been flooded with fake and poorly cloned Honda ATF-DW1 from China. Likewise some other brands of Detron III ATF.

Best advice is to go buy directly from filling stations, like Oando and MRS and authenticated brand dealers.
