Nurnberg will have to forget about their last three matches when they host Bayern Munich in a Bavarian derby tomorrow.

Defeats to Mainz, Wolfsburg and Stuttgart have ended any lingering hope Nurnberg had of qualifying for Europe next season while their primary concern now is to get the three more wins from the last seven matches which should be enough to secure their place in the top flight next season.

One of those wins would be welcome tomorrow, even if coach Dieter Hecking knows his side will be up against it.

"Munich are different opponents to Mainz, Wolfsburg or Stuttgart,'' he said.

"We are going to have to be disciplined, show passion and the willingness to run and we will also need a bit of luck to do Bayern any harm.''

Nevertheless, Hecking is looking forward to the 184th derby between the two sides.

"The anticipation for this derby is great,'' he said at the pre-match press conference.

"A derby is always something special.''

The Frankenstadion could have sold out several times over for the most eagerly-anticipated match on the calendar for Nurnberg fans while there will be almost 5,000 Bayern fans packed in, hoping to see their side keep up their Bundesliga challenge with another win.

They remain in the hunt for a treble this season having won 2-0 at Marseille in the Champions League on Wednesday while a place in the final of the DFB-Pokal is already booked, but their coach Jupp Heynckes wants the focus to be on tomorrow's Bundesliga clash.

"Nurnberg is going to be difficult enough,'' he said. "We are going from one competition to the other - from the Champions League, now to the Bundesliga, and before that the DFB-Pokal - that is not easy.

"We hardly have any time to recharge our batteries.''

Bastian Schweinsteiger is in need of more time than any other Bayern player at the moment after making his return to the side after six weeks out with a troublesome ankle injury in midweek.

Heynckes may well give him a rest while a bit of squad rotation in view of the second leg against Marseille next Tuesday is also possible.

Nurnberg coach Hecking has announced that he sees "no reason'' to make any changes to the side which lost 1-0 to Stuttgart last weekend.
