But I am in full doubt of the fellow. Is there anyway I can unlock the phone and use it when I get to Nigeria. (it was a contract phone, his contract ran out because of his account and the phone was blocked from all UK networks)

U can either unlock with a chip or unlock permanently. Both are possible

U can now unlock your locked iPhone 4S and iphone5 with a chip. It works with ios6. No 112 dialing , no jailbreak required, just insert ur sim and d chip and u are good to go. U can reboot anytime without fear of loosing signal. Very stable

The latest chip works on ios 6.0.1. Get urs for 7k each. Do not upgrade to ios6.0.2 if u are using chips to unlock

the chip is only for iphone 4S and iphone 5. no chip for iphone 4 that has a baseband higher than 4.10
