Police Say Airforce Jet Accidentally Fires Missile At A Port Harcourt Building The Rivers State police command said a loud blast heard in Port Harcourt earlier today was that of a missile accidentally fired from an airforce jet on routine maintenance at the Airforce mechanic hangar in Port Harcourt. Commissioner of Police Mohammed Indabawa told Saharareporters that the missile hit an uncompleted building three kilometers from the scene of the accidental discharge. He said no death or injuries were reported. The whole story doesn't add-up. Do you know the distance btw woji(where the explosion supposedly occured) and the NAF base or was the missile shot from the air? Any woji NLder to clear the story? |

i had to call my neighbours and my maid to confirm the blast, the sound was heard which means its near-by. I suspect arround woji-estate (ALCON side, alot of uncompleted building are there) |

This is a very serious military offence,negligence and should not be treated with levity.The missile could not have launched itself.The military authorities should set-up a BOI to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident,to avoid future recurrence.Those behind the accident don't deserve to be in my father's job.They should be shown the way to their respective villages. |

I thought NAF port harcourt handles military helicopters and not jets, its NAF lagos, kano, makurdi that handles military jets I have a feeling it was a Mil Mi-24 , which are commonly seen at NAF Port Harcourt and not a fighter jet. 1 Like |
