For the first time I say, this is beginning to look very boring.

Everybody wants to write because they read Eze Goes to School, or Ogboju Ode, or The DaVinci code...smh.

Let's have something different to talk about here other than Zonal Meetings and Registrations?

What do we aim to achieve with the Zonal Meetings? Talk Talk and More Talk. SMH

So what do you expect us to talk about? You can initiate one and see if we won't follow...pls start one, and also come up with useful tips to make this dream a reality...don't be too pessimistic with life...always be optimistic and ambitious even at odd times...how was your weekend?

NB: PLS LET'S NOT EXPECT ANYTHING LIKE ENTERTAINMENT, ETC AT THE ZONAL MEETINGS, LOWER YOUR EXPECTATIONS BECAUSE WE ARE ONLY NURTURING THIS DREAM, AND BY God's GRACE, WHEN WE SUCCEED, EVERYONE OF US WILL BE HAPPY TO HAVE BEEN A PART OF THIS MOVEMENT. PLS FRIENDS AND FELLOWS, LET'S BE POSITIVE AND CONSTRUCTIVE ABOUT THIS WHOLE ISSUE SO WE DON'T KILL THE DESIRE IN OTHERS...AND AGAIN, IT IS NOT TOO BAD A CRIME FOR ONE TO DESIRE TO BE A WRITER AFTER READING A NICE NOVEL- OF COURSE PEOPLE GET INSPIRED IN MANY WAYS THROUGH SEVERAL MEDIUMS. CHEERS!

This discussion would have been better on our Facebook page. Anyway, we just have to stick to nairaland for now. I normally have reservations making such discussions in an open forum where anyone may just jump in and make contributions - yet we can't figure who's honestly interested in the success of the dream. Well, we will know the real members during the Zonal meetings.

Exactly, the zonal meeting will determine the success of this and those who are either against or for us. And anyone who fails to attend the zonal meeting won't be taken serious....etc, etc....

rapmike: hope am not too late here...ugospur@gmail.com..pls am interested

Attend the zonal meeting. If you are near Enugu, attend the south-east meeting on the 21st of July this month. If you are close to Lagos, attend the south-west zonal meeting at Lagos on the 28th of July, and if you are nearer Abuja, then try and make it to Abuja for the Northern zonal meeting. We can only determine those that are genuinely interested in this at the zonal meetings.

Pls North zonal coordinators, update us with your arrangements and plans for the zonal meeting come 28th July. So far, only south-east is ready to host its prospective members...we wish you guys success!

In my own little way, i try to encourage my peeps. pls keep the ball rolling. great dreams are always tough at the beginning, it is like a mother in labour. but after delivery, the pain is forgotten. let bad minds run their mouth, enemy is a must if we must blow.
this anthem poem is just trying to tell us that '' yes we can'' no matter the situation of our country or continent.

THE NAIJA'S YOUNG WRITERS' CLUB
YES WE CAN

Together we shall climb
the stairs of greatness
and ply the rough route to success.
Together we shall restor the dignity
Of the young african writer.
Together we shall sail through,
where it seems the tides are rose.
With N.YW.C as our boat
and unity as our oars.
Yes we can,
We can go a lot further together,
than one could go.

Together we shall make a road,
where there seems to be no path.
Together we shall make a house,
where there seems to be no room.
Together we shall make a stay,
where there seems to be no chance.
Yes we can,
we can go a lot further together,
than one could go.

Together we shall resurrect the greatness,
buried in the tomb of mediocrity.
Together we shall tread the greatness' path
and leave behind; a generational impact.
Together we shall soar higher,
where it seems the storm is raged.
Yes we can,
We can go alot further together,
than one could go.

Together we shall outshine,
where there seems to be no light.
Together we shall open gates,
where there seems to be no door.
Together we shall fly high like eagles,
where there seems to be chicken' ego.
Together we shall multiply,
where there seems to be no addition.
Yes we can,
we can go a lot further together,
than one could go.

With love in our mist.
With unity as our bound.
With greatness as our aim.
With inspiration in our head.
With message in our mind.
With burden in our heart.
With faith on our talent.
With focus in our sense,
We can achieve our goals.
Yes we can,
we can go a lot further together,
than one could go.

With our message to the world,
We shall tell the ethnocentric
that this is not "a time to kill."
With our books in time;
we shall tell that this is not,
"a tale of three tribes."
With the pages of our writing,
We shall gather the "the things fallen apart"
and leave footprints "on the sand of time."
Yes we can,
We can go a lot further together,
than one could go,

(behold the coming light
that lightens the africa's night)
The naija's young writers' club.
yes we can.

This piece is not only a cute poem, but an amazing lyrics which can also be used as a song...I am more than impressed reading it...in fact, it is awesome...awesome! Our music industry was revived by some group of people, now we have every Nigerian youth clamouring to be an artiste and yet, they are making Nigeria proud and soaring higher and higher...why can't there be same in the literary industry? Haven't we observed that each year, Nigerian youths emerge winners of global writing competitions? That alone shows that we have hidden talents in that field, who needs to be explored and exposed gainfully, and that dream and vision is what NAYWP is set to achieve by the special grace of God and through our joint unrelenting hard work and determination. Pls don't be discouraged, even though sometimes it seems like we are down, we feel like its a childsplay, pls it is not...let's keep working towards our goals, and believe me, soon Nigeria will celebrate us. My only fear is that some folks reading and following our threads might hijack this dream and rebrand it in another wy, but let's try and be the first we are destined to be! I hope life is awesome with you guys out there? I am doing my best.

Nice contribution, but first, let's have the zonal meetings and then come up with these ideas at the zonal meetings to show how serious and dedicated we are to make this dream come true!
