Some people have said that the Yorubas control naijas economy, because most of the CEO's and directors comes from the west(a direct fallout of Awolowo's £20 policy that preceded the indiginization degree). At this time Dangote is the richest man in Africa and producing products made in Nigeria.So I say Hausa's because the British gave them plenty and Dangote is the richest in Africa. I will support his products we must rally around Nigerian companies. People with extra income shop at stores usually not owned by Nigerians such as Goodie Shoprite etc; How can we keep the money in the country. The oil companies are destroying the land and making billions paying a few. We must continue to farm and also manufacture more products. Even I am guilty of buying stock fish and so called African fabric from Europe. No matter what tribe we must stop being a nation of useless consumerism. South West is in the driving seat of Nigerian Economy, while the South East is managing Trade and Commerce.

The south eastern states has the highest number of enterpreneurs in Nigeria. Nnewi specifically has the highest concentration of such.

Personally, I will tell you that two major tribes control and run things as far as the economy is concerned! The Yorubas hold sway in the Oil and Gas sector (which remains the driving force behind our economy), banking and finance, food and beverages and telecommunication while the Hausa-Fulanis command the army, immigration,civil service,oil & gas (with the Yorubas),customs and most government parastatals and agencies! These two major tribes in my own candid opinion are indeed in charge!

The Igbos own 2 large sized banks and a media house while owning considerable shares in MTN , swift and control Nigeria movie empire worth Billions of Naira
