Colonial Influence.

The ONE African country that has RESTRICTED that colonial influence, by incorporating indigenous, pre-colonial governance/administrative systems into its system of government is BOTSWANA.

No surprise that Botswana has been consistently rated the LEAST corrupt nation in Africa, and among its most ADVANCED after South Africa.

What does Colonial Influence mean in practice?

It means maintaining those administrative systems introduced by, and inherited from the colonialists, WHICH MAKE IT POSSIBLE for vices like corruption and lack of accountability etc to exist and thrive. We need to radically OVERHAUL those inherited systems, like Botswana did. Do you know Botswana has a House of Chiefs as part of their govt? No issue pertaining to the nation can be discussed without incorporating those traditional elders of the country, the traditional representatives of the people, drawn from every local community.

In fact we've not started in Nigeria. We measure our success by how well we can COPY OYINBO METHODS, instead of exploring OUR OWN RICH HISTORY OF ACHIEVEMENT, and devising a suitable, home grown means of organising ourselves.

Uuhm did I read this question on L? smiley

Nway Our biggest problem is OURSELVES.

We hate each other
We fight each other
We are tribal,
We are difficult to change
We are too suspicious
We fear risks
We feel inferior
We just don't believe that anything good can come out Africa.

Well am none of the above but am african. smiley

Added to all that has been said, Africa's problem is partly

1. Too much crisis... they build for 30 years and destroy it in 30 days!
2. Illiteracy... this also includes semi-literate, half-baked graduates!
3. Greed... Africans are greedy... they want to have it all to themselves...nothing for anybody else...even the state!
Re: What Is Africa's Biggest Problem? by Maximip(m): 2:28pm On Apr 23, 2012
Hatred for one another

That is the root of Africa's problems.

Without it, there will be no corruption, bad governance, greed, fighting, etc.

The day an African genuinely wishes the best for his neighbour, that's the day Africa's problems will end.

Africa's biggest problem is definitely Lack of Co-operation. Lack of Co-operation causes the other factors the op mentioned, to come into existence.
Cause when everyone is co-operating, they'll be doing things accordingly, and when they do these things constitutionally, Africa will be great.
If we had co-operated, there would have being no reason for NATO, to invade Libya and blow "unarmed" areas, killing innocent civilians.
If we can co-operate, poverty will be easily eradicated.
If we can co-operate, the African Union would'nt be so "Incompetent".
If we can co-operate, there'll be no reason why will need "AID" from "WESTERN DONORS".
So its definitely "LACK OF CO-OPERATION"!

After reading the above post, it became clear to me that some people don't understand political influence while some suffer from inferiority complex.

Anybody that understands world politics will know that 50% of Africa problem is caused by some world political influence while the remaining 50% is caused by our leaders who don't understand the meaning of the words "Leader" or ready to die for the sake of saving their country.

Before you start saying anything, check out Syria, Panama, Egypt, Ecuador, Indonesia, Nigeria, Libya, Ivory Coast, Sierra Leone, etc. Watch documentaries and read books like "Confession of Economic Hitman".

For Africa to succeed, some leaders need to stand up and say enough is enough to people. Right now what we have are leaders without balls.
