gruppom: From what I saw from a program on AIT, he was not comfortable. His house looked so old and unkept and he was a very sad man. He went as far as using his own mouth to complain of abandonment. I lost my value for many of his co-players because of that. I believe they should have initiated a form of rehabilitation for him and not Government. The experience Etim Esin had at Okocha's house goes on to tell a lot more about the "Super eagles mafia" of the 90's. They have a clique and they are the rich ones. |

atuboweke: Pls leave GEJ out of this. Is he the only player that played for Nija then? Others have moved on with their lives e.g : ben Iroha, uche okechukwu, keshi etc Why will he keep waiting for the Govt. YORUBA lazy attitude. But nevertheless; He was the best, finest, dependable and reliable striker ever. May his soul rest in perfect peace. You just displayed your ignorance. Hardworking goat! 1 Like |

please people don't go there..i don't know why people keep accusing the govt and sports authorities of abandoning past players..please, these guys didn't do what they did for this country for free..for goodness sakes they were paid for doing it and anytime the bonus was not enough, they held the nation to ransom..these guys, Rashidi Yekini included were professional footballers who earned a living by playing the game..he was well paid and shouldn't expect handouts from anybody at the end of his career..are we all not serving this country? do we expect to be fed free of charge when we retire? |

A real African star.He was very popular in RSA after the 94 USA qualifier matches played in Lagos and Johannesburg. This was RSA first world cup qualification games after the sanctions. The first leg i think Nigeria beat RSA 4-0 in lagos and Yekini and Siasia where the stars of that team, second leg was a nil all draw. Yekini together with Siasia where loved by everyone and all the youngster wanted to be Yekini's and Siasia's. May his soul rest in peace the son of Africa(Robala ka kagiso morrwa afrika) |

NRI PRIEST: This guy died in porverty. He had major problems with the usa '94 super eagles and the abandoned him. He was the poorest of that group because of the beef ! Rashidi never died in poverty, living a simple life in Ibadan never meant he was poor, and there was never a time he needed nor solicited for the govts or public support financially nor medically |

It is so annoying to hear cretins give opinions! So it is government's job or his ex-team mates job to take care of Rashidi Yekini because he can play football. Utter cretins! Products of a failed education system. |

| Re: Rashidi Yekini Is Dead? by Sagamite(m): 9:14am On May 05, 2012 |
Then you will see the utter cretins alluding that his supposed mental illness and death was due to evil forces/juju. Bunch of moronic illiterates. Maybe the guy had consumed something that gave him mental health issues (e.g. Mad Cow Disease) and the Nigerian doctors could not diagnose it. Perfectly possible in a country with poor public health and sanitation system. Maybe it was some other health issue (genetics, chronic depression etc). But yet half-to-re-tards would quickly say it is his enemies that are doing him. The babalawo was strong! RIP YeKing! |

Its high time we did something fast to help Majek Fashek on time before we'll start commiserating on the pages of newspapers and social forums like this. May his gentle soul rest in Perfect peace in Jesus Name. Amen ! Help Majek Fashek for what reason? Majek Fashek can go and eat poo before jumping off third mainland bridge for all I care. |

May his soul rest in perfect peace.he The isssue is he was abandoned, I could remembered that he was listed among some Nigeria sport dignities to honour 2010 world cup in South Africa and he did not show up for the trip and nobody checked on him , it was reported that he was giving out his cars and belongings to people and living isolated life and may have mental problem, nobody checked on him, He lived in isolated life and when there was not helping coming his way to treat him, he hit the street, He was not poor he has houses till date but was abandoned and nobody came to him when he lost his sense, the fact is that he was not poor but he lost his sense. |
