Your best bet is to make a copy of an existing one from the templates folder(maybe beez), edit the TemplateDetails.xml file and rename the template to something else and also rename the folder. Study the joomla related stuff that are added to the template(especially at the head section), so you know what not to delete. Then it would be safe to copy from the <body> part of your own web/html template design down to the closing </html> and replace the same part of the one you are editing(Beez). I am assuming you know some html/css. You can then open the template.css file that comes with the beez template and edit it. You can use your own css that came with your own normal template but make sure its referenced at the head, replacing the template.css that came with the beez temp. You start from there to learn and back up first. I believe you wont be trying any of this on a live site though? 1 Like |
