Commendable but more can still be done. No political office holder should be spared in this austerity measure. |

17m is $100000. What a reps member in Nigeria earns per quarter is close to what a house member in the US earns in a year. US GDP trillions of dollars. Nigeria GDP $400 billion. Cost of living in the US is far higher than Nigeria. Minumum wage is 18000. I rest my case. Good news however. At least we are making a little progress. If the reps people are truly representing the interest of the people, they shouldn't complain. |

I have read people saying they lost hope in Nigeria and yet their destiny is tied to Nigeria. For someone to remain a Nigerian and not believe in Nigeria is to live a life of contradiction, a life devoid of peace. we don't have a choice but to believe and believing does not mean we accept what our leaders do but rather - we choose always to do the right thing. 1 Like |

A member of the House, Hon. Bimbo Daramola (ACN/Ekiti) who spoke with Sunday Mirror last week, said “My brother things are getting worse.” “The allowances have not only been slashed, these days you cannot even nominate your choice Mil-lennium Development Goals Projects (MDGs). Even when you do, you are not sure they will be implemented by the Presidency”. |

Some people are just stoopid! Does this make any difference to these guys; cosmetic reform- the allowance reduced will end up being called something else and will even be increased. |
| Re: RMAFC Slashes Reps’ Allowances By 80% by cesil92: 6:31pm On May 20, 2012 |
The so called LegisLOOTERS are angry at ONLY their allowances being slashed, moreover the slash does not affect thier salaries and other lootings. Its a clear example of EAT ALL ALONE SYNDROME. See the other Honourable complaining about MDG's project, mosts of this project are being awarded at big sums, MDG project is surely an avenue to BIGGER LOOTING. E.g, currently somewhere in a small village in a South-South Oil poducing state, a dam project has been awarded at some billions of naira, to say the least its not an H.E.P dam and little agricultural activities go on in that particular community apparently where the Lawmaker comes from. Its only an avenue to enrich himself due to his very influential position at abuja. |

Our probs is dat we've lost faith in governance and its the fault created by previous administrations where govt behaviour eroded the trust that citizens had on them.many times, nigerians has called for the slash in allowance given to National assembly. Now,many people has started talking another thing instead of commending govt move atleast for listening to the voice of nigerians.i wonder when people will see sth gud in this present administration..lets talk like people that will be happy to see gud things happening.there are alot of loopholes that can allow looting take place bt we have to commend the govt for listening to us and we have to equally see those loopholes and report to govt since they will listen to us.GEJ is on gud course. |

I hope this report is true. Long over due. Slashing the allowances will have greater effect on their over all take home than just slashing their salaries. Good way to Go Joboy, that is if it is true cos I doubt those thieving bunch will take it lying down. |

So much has happened in this country that this type of news at best is like a passing side comment to people. Is it not the same house that took 3Million furniture allowance against public cry only for Nigerians to hear a few years later that it was 5Million? The more Nigerians become enlightened and free of ethnic and religious sentiments the more our demands on our government will be more precise. Will I laud this development? NO! Not until I see less of career politicians. |
