The SUG President, in his characteristically known nature, visited the boys' hostel yesterday in order to address some prevailing problems that has been on for a while now and which has become a big problem for students.The students' leader vehemently condemned the situation in which students who paid for accommodation were unable to be allocated to a particular hostel. He stressed that the students' union will definitely put in place all the necessary measures to address such problems in order to protect the welfare of students. The President categorically stated that the SUG has been informed reliably that some departments are forcing students to purchase journals which are amongst the prerequisite for their registration. He promised to intervene and make sure that such things aren't tolerated and for students to be allowed to buy such journals at their will not under compulsion.The SUG equally rejected the closure of the online portal which culminated into stalling registrations. Registration continues and students are therefore encouraged to hasten their registration.In ensuring students' interests have been protected, the president reiterates the intervention of the SUG regarding the expulsion of 600 students from the campus as a result of exams malpractice. He assured students that no one will be expelled that “injury to one is injury to all”. The president, however, concluded by advising students to desist from exam malpractice and that the SUG will do its possible best to reduce the rate at which students are being intimidated during exams. The session was ended by chants of solidarity from the teeming students in the boys hostel while the president equally answered some questions as well as received many complains from the students. The UniAbuja Senate at its extra ordinary meeting held yesterday Thursday 12th Feb 2014 considered adjustment to the 2014/2015 session academic year planner as it affects regular students

•1st SEMESTER

~Lectures for 2014/15 session now ends on Sat 25th Feb 2015
Exams to commence Monday 2nd March 2015 and End on Wed, 25th March 2015(3weeks)

•2nd SEMESTER

~Lectures 2nd semester 2014/15 now commences 20thApril2015 and ends Sat, 11th Aug2015(15Weeks).

~2nd Semester Exams 2014/15 now commences on Mon 3rd Aug and ends 29th Aug, 2015.

~2nd semester exams for SIWES students to be conducted Mon, 3rd, August and ends Sat 8th August to enable them commence SIWES On Mon, 10th and ends 10 Nov 2015.

~End of 2014/15 Session break to now be Mon, 31th Aug 2014 and Sunday 18th Oct 2015(7weeks).
