|Which Race Were The Ancient Egyptians? by E-Engineer(m): 10:30am On May 23, 2012|
this question has been a controversial hot debate over the last century,
i would like to know ur opinions [ especially pple with proof], which race do u think the ancient egyptians belonged to, were they fully caucasian with a slave negroid element? were they fully negroid with a caucasian minority? or where they equally mixed?
when i say ancient egyptians, i dont mean the egyptians of 1500 years ago till today who were conquered by the arabs and have arabic blood in them, i also dont mean the egyptians of alexander the great's era [ the ptolemy's]
i mean the ancient kemetians who built the great pyramids and did all the wonderful things that attract tourists today, i mean those who started the civilization, just the same way the people who started the british empire and nations are of the caucasiod nordic race even though there are many mulattoes and blacks in UK
please Nlers give me answers

I'm sure that the ancient Egyptians weren't black-skinned. Their complexion was Mediterannean and they resembled their neighbors in Greece, Palestine, coastal North Africa and the rest of the Meditteranean world.
However, the Nubians to the south (who conquered and ruled Egypt for a time period) were black-skinned. If you look at early Egyptian art, you'll notice that they depicted themsleves with yellow paint, the Greeks and Southern Europeans with white paint, and the Nubians with black or dark brown paint.

E-Engineer:here is a thread about this very subject you requested from Sudannet, follow the user by the name of Ta seti which is post #203, he explains the history of the nile valley very well, which makes sense, and then follow up and do your own personal research to confirm what he quoted.

By looking at the ancient art and comparing the people of the same region, you can have a idea who some of the ancient were, by the similarities of the ancient art and the population today, and many of the cultural aspects whether positive or negative survives to this day. The teenage girl in the family portrait that is sitting down in the bottom right in the last photo looks very much like the ancient women(above the picture) in the art during the New Kingdom period, and the girl currently lives around the ruins, in Northern Sudan from that period as well, hence the ancient connection.
