My View On The Orosanye-lead Committee's Recommendation. Part 1 by Zeebah23(f): 9:00pm On May 24, 2012
I took my time to go through the recommendations of the Presidential Committee on the Rationalisation and Restructuring of Federal Government Parastals Commissions led by Stephen Orosanye. As much as i laud this development,it is not without reservations. Here are my points, submissions & recommendations. 1). With the scrapping of the Ajaokuta steel company and National steel Raw materials Exploration Agency, why do we still have the 'steel' in the Ministry of Power and Steel? 2). If the motive of this committee is genuine, why do we have the National Electricity Commission when the Ministry of Power and Steel is still in existence? 3). Merging of ICPC,EFCC and the Code of Conduct Bureau : i have said it for the umpteenth time that the existence of ICPC and EFCC is abnormal considering the fact that 80% of the Corrupt Practices (ICPC) in Nigeria is related to Financial Crimes(EFCC). These two should be merged. The Code of Conduct Bureau should be left to stay. 4). I didn't see anything related to MINDA(Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs) and NDDC (Niger Delta Development Committee),what are their functions? Are they not the same? They should be merged. 6). I saw VON,NTA & FRCN. Are they up for merging or scrapping? I didn't get that. Your views are welcome please.

Part 2. I totally support the idea of teachers going for training before they are absolved into the school system because it will reduce the number of half-baked teachers, who cannot express themselves fluently in our school system. CONCLUSION : Whatever!whatever!!whatever!!! The aim of the process should be to reduce duplication of ministries, efficient management of the existing ones and most importantly, better the lot of the average Nigerian. Unfortunately,It pains me to think about how many times committees like this have been set up and we have nothing to show for it. All we hear them talk about is Recommendations. I hope the funds saved from this ministries and Parastatals would be used to invest in businesses that will benefit Nigerians & not go down the drain(their purses & bank accounts). God bless Nigeria!
