Chinom: @Kobojunkie, May i refer you to an earlier comment by Texazzshit.Quote "with the strange middle name (unless someone's keyboard stuck!) " Maybe you can begin to understand my response. Try to be objective.

Pity you don't know how to read simple English if not you'd have seen where I CLEARLY STATED that those comments came from the CNN.com article comments section.

Try to be sensible sometimes.

Naija has lost the plot.
Do u know how many lawyers will be knocking on the relatives of the victim's door say this crash happened in saner climates.

Some ignorant souls here spewing that "will money bring back the dead". No it won't but a big payout will send a strong message to all other operators & thye won't cut corners in their business again.

In saner climates even before threat of "class act" Dana should have been drawing up a compensation package for all families.

An airplane isn't a car. It is a highly sophisticated vehicle with enough back up options even in the eventuality of engine failures. Whether the airplane is 20 years old or not is irrelevant. If its servicable then it is usable. Do you know how many years one has to wait to receive an order of a new plane. So its not something that you discard after 10 years like some folks here are suggesting.

I hope they sue for 150 billion dollars.

WhyAWhy: I really don't understand,
0. Plane designed by manufacturer and engine designed by someoneelse
1. Plane was "born" in the late eighties or very early nineties
2. Plane has exchanged ownership at least twice
3. Plane has been used and age is now telling on it
4. Plane struck by tragedy
5. One man went all the way back to "0" to sue somebody, it probably would have made even little sense to sue the owners in "2."
submission: I will be amazed if he got anything out of this!
On point!!!grin

No one is saying DO NOT SUE AT ALL . . . However, this particular story is of a man, in the US, suing a company in his Backyard, for manufacturing a plane which crashed almost 30 years after it left the company's lot, in faraway Nigeria.

Of course people have a right to sue their government, and the airline. No doubt about that. And I expect to read stories of such suits.
