Surprise surprise, a "god-fearing" Nigerian airline operator decided to fill their jet with cheap adulterated fuel to cut costs, but wound up causing a crash that killed all aboard.

One would imagine that the same folks who chose that crap fuel will now be rubbing their greasy hands together at the prospect of the big bucks insurance payout on their lost aircraft, which, come to think of it, may be the reason those lives were sacrificed in the first place.

"This is your captain speaking. For all passengers who can swim, please move to the right side of the aircraft, and for those who cannot swim, thank you all for flying Air Nigeria."

segeb1980:
The investigators were said to be focusing on the samples of the fuel in the planes because majority of past cases of dual engine failure in the global aviation industry had been discovered to have been caused by fuel supply issues.

Sources said the investigators were not yet satisfied with the results they were getting so far from the samples of fuel collected.

A source in Dana, who confided in our correspondent, disclosed that the investigators had been collecting samples of fuel from the remaining planes in the carrier’s fleet.

Yes, a team of investigators has been coming to collect samples of fuel from our remaining airplanes. Members of the team have been coming since Tuesday. Up till this morning, they still came. In fact, we have run out of fuel sampling bottles, which we used to conduct tests on fuel every morning when we were still in operation,” the source said.

Speaking on the development, the spokesman of AIB, Mr. Tunji Oketumbi, confirmed that a team of investigators had gone to collect samples of fuel from the airline.

He, however, said the exercise was one of the routine steps in every accident investigation.

Oketumbi said the team was not focusing on one matter, adding that several issues were being examined.

According to him, the investigators will only conclude the process after several other issues have been thoroughly cross-checked.

He said, It is part of the normal routine process in accident investigation. We collect samples of fuel. We go to the Control Tower to collect the tapes there; we go to the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority to collect records of the aircraft, the crew and the planes’ maintenance schedules.

Fear Nigerians . . . How the heck did the topic come about? No where in the Story are we even told that the Investigators SUSPECT CONTAMINATED FUEL to be the cause of the crash.. . we are told over and over that it is routine to investigate that AS PART OF THE INVESTIGATIONS.
Your Government don tell you say nothing dey happen until 2013. What is with the game?

LOL, you got jokes cheesy cheesy cheesy

Well, fuel contamination is a likely suspect. embarassed embarassed embarassed

Nigeria and everything either cheap/fake.

@Jakumo, let me ask you, if they're expecting a payout from insurance companies when it's clearly their fault due to negligence, do you think insurance will pay such claims?

Airlines test fuel samples very often to make sure they have the appropriate grade for their engine type, so if they faulted on that part, me think, I doubt they will get any payout. Anyway, let's proceed to see what happens.

It won't be nice if this ends up true.

This same aircraft has been said to be having faults by a lot of people even Tony Uranta
and a staff that spoke to Channels TV. Nigeria is focusless.
If it's actually contaminated fuel then could it have been only dana that the oil marketer that
fueled the aircraft refill?

Why didn't the others crash as well?
