The Federal House of Representatives has had enough. Irked by the unending streak of insecurity in the country, especially in the North, the House today passed a resolution summoning President Goodluck Jonathan. The president would be displeased by the House’s latest move, if he was around to receive the summons. He and a small entourage however left for Brazil today, but the summons is sure to further strain the already shaky relationship between the president and the lower house.

The House is obviously disturbed by the bombing in Kaduna on Sunday which sparked retaliations by Christians; the shooting in Gombe on Monday and bombing in Damaturu same day, and has decided that both President Jonathan and the security chiefs need to come and answer questions about the insecurity and crises in the country.

This is the first time lawmakers have summoned a sitting president, as ministers or lower ranking government officials are the ones usually summoned.

However, the House did not give the exact date when they want the President to show. This may give him the leeway to choose a day that aligns with his schedule.

lets see how this summon will play out whether he will face them and answer queries

It is long over due,people are dying and nothing is said or don about it ,the worst part,he travels out just like that.you just can't keep on doing the same thing with the same persons without any progress and then you cont.why not resurful the security team,change some tactics here and their and see. And if means dropping some person,fine after all nobody has a monopoly of knowledge. This could be a wake up call to mr president

This is the true voice of anger. He had better answer the summon before this issue degenerates to a full blown coup.
