| Governor Babatunde Fashola Ranks High Amongst Nigerians In The Diasporia by anonymous6(f): 12:43pm On Jun 21, 2012 |
"The Nigerian Diaspora community seems quite pleased with Governor Fashola’s performance in Lagos state and wish that governors like Fashola emerge from this year’s general election in Nigeria. “Fashola is doing a great job in Lagos which needs to continue hence he should be given a chance to continue to serve the people of Lagos state with distinction”. These words were echoed harmoniously at a recent meeting held by the Nigerians In Diaspora For Democracy (NID4D) in London. The pro-democracy group voted overwhelming in support of an action plan to mobilise family, friends and acquaintances back home to turn out in droves to vote for Governor Fashola’s into office for a second term. Having carefully assessed the various gubernatorial candidates, Governor Fashola came up on top with a wide margin. He has proved he is able to make things happen indeed. NID4D aims to promote the placing of capable and responsible candidates in government. Candidates with a vision to change the lives of Nigerian for the better. Candidates that espouse the principles of accountability, good governance and transparency while in public office. It is obvious that on the basis of a review of the last four years of Mr Babatunde Fashola in office, He stands head and shoulders above his peers in Nigeria. It is on this note that NID4D came to the conclusion that Mr Fashola actions as a state Governor is not only exemplary but highly commendable. Mr Fashola’s appears to be a patriotic Nigerian that what to make a difference, his administration’s introduction and especially the implementation and support from his government of the Bus Rapid Transport (BRT) system has brought major improvements to public transport in Lagos which is the first of its kind in Africa. Lagos is a work-in-progress and it might not be in the best interest of Lagosian to upset that work at this crucial point in time. This man Fashola and his team are rapidly changing the face of Lagos, new roads are being built and adorned with street lights, a tax regime though not perfect in now in place and people are beginning to get use to the idea of progressive taxation, keeping Lagos clean is now a major priority, crime reduction strategies have been implemented, some idle hands that otherwise act as thugs or street touts have now been given a sense of purpose though gainful employment and the endless list goes on. NID4D’s message is clear, let the support for Fashola reflect through a renewed determination to turn out and vote decisively so that Fashola’s victory is guaranteed by a landslide." http://elombah.com/index.php/articles/70-letters/6201-governor-babatunde-fashola-ranks-high-amongst-nigerians-in-diaspora--v15-6201 |
