@ pracktical,its very normal.My baby did the same then,crawling backward and today she is running on her feet.Just encourage him by kneeling in front of him and crawl forward,with time,he will do same.

I stopped bf her during the day till 5pm everyday for about a month then I did the Cold Turkey method-stopped suddenly(think that's what it's called)

My boobs were swollen and painful for 3-5 days, the pain was terrible and I refused to take drugs or express.

Baby too refused to co-operate, it was difficult but it's something you have to do at one time or the other.

Sitting is 4-6 months. Be putting him down in the sitting position and put pillows at his back

Youghurt is 6 months but you can start other stuff like fruit / veggies puree

Are you exercising? If your baby is up to 2 months you can start exercising. Cardio and planks have helped me.

Also watch what you eat which isn't easy though if you are breastfeeding exclusively. What I do is eat fruit for breakfast, then beans which is quite heavy for lunch, something very very light for dinner. Drink a lot of water too. It's not an easy process but it took you 9months to gain the weight, I will advice you give it at least 9months as well to lose it

From nosebridge outward. Pls u need to be careful the water does not enter his eyes. Don't use ur fingers to clean it. If you do this at least 6x daily. You won't even need medication.

monin mas. longesttyme. pls mothers, im a 1st tym and a young mother of a wonderful baby dat ll b 12months on wednesday. takin care of her has been coupled wit a lot of challenges. the most painful 1 is dat my 1ce upon a time robust, sharp, blabing, active baby is now weighing 6kg. mothers ve went tru a lot tryin 2 bring her bak 2 a gud stature but all effort has proved abortive. i was 1ce told at d hospital 2 feed her wit a fortified pap which ve been doin for abt 2+ monts nw still no improvemnt coupled wit oda foods dat i feed her wit o. nw ve been told its because i forcefeed her wit the pap dats y d thin is not workin for her. some also.said its because of somtin calld 'jori or oka ori' in yoruba, the sign of which the fontanel ll remain unclosed and flat. mothers, we were told 2 use some herbs we ve been doin dat tbough seletively cos many peaople.re offerin diff kinds of herbs. still.no improvemnt. she is not evn crawling yet. pls mothers i ll appreciate any kind sugesstion nd food supleement nd hw to prepare them. pls to go out wit my baby is nw challengin evn to church cos her mates developmntal milestone has pass dose stage, most re evn walking nw wit very big statures those da

Madam you are in my prayers,pls be strong cos ur baby needs you.can u go to a teaching hospital to c a good pediatrician, so d cause can be found out nd u won't be dealing with assumptions.by God's grace ma she will catch up with her peers.its well
Can u also try foods wit texture like soft boiled Noddles nd eggs?

@ayolight: it's kinda true that "oka-ori" inhibits LO growth -- eating without adding weight -- but not sure if it affects development. Anyway, if you're sure it is, visit a pediatrician or go see native medic practitionals. Friend of mine's LO suffered this until he visits a reliable native practitionals (elewe-omo). He was prepared bath soap & cream to wash his scalp; u'll notice d change in days.

@ayolight Hello dear. Don't despair yet, there is nothing our God cannot do. You need to visit a good pediatrician. They need to run series of test including heart test. You need to know what you are dealing with. Stop all herbal treatment it will complicate issues. I know a family that had this type of issue, d child couldn't stand even at 1yr6months. Very Very slim too. They went for a test and found out d baby had a hole in d heart. Ths is not the time to do guess work. Early diagnosis saves life and regret. You are in our prayers. Hugs

I figured out my 2 week old baby as silent reflux. It started the same day I tool beveragr and milk (Friday)...and I read online that some babies are allergic to milk proteins. I have since stopped taking milk and milk products. She archs her back, pulls her knees up to her tummy and is in obvious discomfort...does not spit up though...and this happens after every feed. It gets worse when you lay her on her back to sleep. I intend getting infant gaviscon, but would like to know if anyone here has used it

Any other possible solutions/treatments are welcome also.

Also, sometimes it seems like gas pains...should I get infacol first?

Please do not use infacol, it made my baby's reflux worse. You are better off with gripe water, i used the uk own sha. Try to drink a lot of water and eat efo riro, it helped my baby. I was presribed infant gaviscon but i ended up not using it. Why dont you take the baby to the hospital so they can examin the throat and rule our gerd. It is well.

The reason I said silent reflux is that she doesn't spit up, but appears like she is swallowing something...and soon after that, she starts to wriggle and arch and just generally uncomfortable...and it happens after every feed.

I would have said colic, but she doesn't have screamingor crying spells....just the discomfort as stated above. I was forced to put her to sleep on her tummy, to ease her discomfot....and she slept peacefully, only woke up once to feed and then a diaper change.....but I cant keep putting her to sleep on her tummy cos its not safe....i literally slept with one eye open yesterday.

Prior to me drinking milk and the start of this, she was a generally happy baby...but for 2-3days now, discomfort.

Milk takes about 1 week to leave your system. Just wait it out and stay away from milk. You can eat cheese though

I feel he doesnt feed well. He feels satisfied on only one breast n doesnt take up to 4mins and he's done (though he sucks very fast n chokes n my breast feels soft afterwards). I also want him to gain more weight.

Please leave the boy alone. If he isnt taking enough, trust me you will know cos he will start crying and wont keep quiet. It seems you have forceful let down so the thing is always rushing.

@ayolight, it is well my dear. I don't really know much about this but if its not an illness its just food then use the ones that have being suggested. Then there are foods like gerber yougurt, cow and gate puddies and other ones if you can afford it, it really helps in weight gain.

pls can you go to luth and see a pead consultant. I nearly lost my second child cos I was busy self medicating and also following the instructions of a doc who wasn't up to date. Thank God for the miracle that later took place. Seek second opinion please.

Dear, I really feel sorry for ur baby and u too. Dis kind of situation is really a big challenge. Have u gone to a teaching hospital? Or to a pediatrician? If yes, then I'll say maybe ur baby is from "Dada" lineage. There are babies who are naturally born "dadas". Just like Samson in the Bible, their hair must not be combed or cut untill an appointed time. Mostly Igbos believe in "dada", and my cousin is a living example. Unknown to all of including his mum, he was born a dada. His problem started when his hair was cut at 12 months, his mum took him to different hospitals to no avail. His condition was getting worse each passing day. To cut d long story short, his mum later took him to a herbalist who confirmed his identity. His hair was left untouched untill after 9 months when d boy willingly asked a fellow dada play mate to cut his hair. It was then that they returned to the herbalist who approved his hair cut. He is now a healthy and intelligent boy. Growing more healthier dan his mates. Initially I thought dada was nothing but a superstitious believe untill my cousin's own. @ayolight, so sorry abt wot u may b going thru.I think ur baby has failure to thrive.Wen did u start noticing d inability to add weight? wot was birth weight?is he holding his neck and sitting yet?apart frm failure to add wt, is he otherwise normal? does he tire easily? was his heart checked at d hospital? sorry for d plenty questions.In all, u need to c a good paed, as sm1 suggested, u cn go to luth, they hv diff specialists there.Please STOP d herbal meds for nw(at least u ve used them for sometym to no avail).May God wipe away ur tears
