Someone prescribed visita plus as cream for my 5weeks old baby and I have been using dat for a week now after reading some threads above I now know it is very dangerous to my baby's skin and I have resolved to use Shea butter. Also my lo has mosquitoe bites on her body though she is not feeling feverish am just scare of her having malaria (dont kno wat to do.). I have gotten treated mosquitoes net but I have to follow instruction b4 using.seriously praying my baby shud not have malaria. |

stadora: Seriously?! As in like... Seriously? Are you out of your mind?!! You would rather endager your childs life and get a prescription on naira land than go back to see your doctor and ask for a different medication? Is this being pennywise and pound foolish? Or are you trying to save on the time you will spend in going back to see the doctor? Lemme put it this way and very bluntly: you will spend at least 5 times the amount you want to save and then end up sleeping in tha same hospital for days on end should anything happen to that child. Go to some hospitals in nigeria and see Children are dying everyday from malaria, because the parents either wasted time in bringing the child to the hospital by either self medicating or looking for alternative treatments that dont work, or saying no money? 8 Likes |

Re: NEW BORN BABIES! Are U A New Mum? Then Lets Discuss Babies Here!!!!! by AlphaHandMaiden(f): 3:33pm On May 04, 2016 |
pjthatcher: I have no intention to make her feel guilty, i wish her all the best and hope her baby gets well soon. I am just highlighting the possible consequences of her actions. If somebody is clearly going down the wrong path, just because one is unable to physically assist, doesnt mean one should be silent! I understand everybody's finances are different and fair enough, if she cannot afford the medication i commend her honesty. However the right person to be seeking advise is the doctor that prescribed the meds in the first case to give her a more affordable alternative. I know there are doctors, nurses or other healthcare professionals on this thread who can help but this is not the route to follow with something potentially life threatening and no one should be prescribing meds online without assessing the patient in question. I think as Nigerians we are ridiculously bad at self medication or just because something works for A doesnt mean it will work for B. We are all built differently and react differently to medication. I know people who have died due to malaria complications and reactions to self medication. So i make no apologies for my earlier comment which is based on her response of "yes but i ve already left the hosp and i dont want to go back" at another mama's advise to go back to the hospital . If for instance someone here tells her to give her child something and the child reacts badly to it or she ends up giving the wrong dose for her childs age /weight limit or what ever $#*! may happen... is it not the same hospital you didnt want to go back to in the first place that you will be running back to and possibly having to pay for admission ? Or will the nairaland prescriber take responsibility for the mess up? Perhaps it is because it is malaria, which we seem to have trivialised, God forbid it was something which is considered far more serious, i dont think nairaland will even be on her mind. 11 Likes |

favoredgal:I think it's normal cos I had similar experience, infact the nurse that was giving the injections told us that if the spot starts bringing out pores, we should use cotton wool and clean the pores and discard properly and wash hand afterwards. she also said we shouldn't allow the pores to touch someone else. on 2 occasions, my daughter's injection spots had pores too even dou I didn't have such experience with other kids. I just cleaned and pressed out the pores and it healed on its own. |
