Nairaland has a sizeable number of Arsenal supporters. Unfortunately, a few of them are
quite obnoxious. They do not realize that football is just a game. If you say anything
against their dear team, you will become the recipient of all manner of insult and abuse.
If you ever have the misfortune of getting into an argument with one of them, do not try
to reason with them. It will not work. Rather, whatever they say, reply with one or a
combination of the following:

1. Tell them that Arsenal is destined to play in the Europa League this year (No Arsenal
fan wants to hear “Europa League”. So keep mentioning “Europa League” at every opportunity)

2. Remind them that Arsenal has not won a trophy since 2006 (This is one issue that
worries Arsenal fans the most. They try their best to forget it. So bring it up often)

3. Tell them that Arsene Wenger is the worst coach in the EPL. (While many Arsenal fans
agree with this sentiment, they do not like others bringing it up)

4. Tell them that van Persie will leave Arsenal this year, whether that is true or not.
(van Persie happens to be the back bone of Arsenal. They cannot afford to lose him)

5. Tell them that Arsenal is just a French team playing in England (While it is true that
Arsenal is largely made up of French players, their fans do not want to hear about it. If
they say “Well, van Persie, Walcott, Wilshere, Chamberlain etc are not French” counter by
listing the myriad French players on their team. They include Sagna, Diaby, Koscielny,
Squillaci, Coquelin, Chamakh, Girourd, Song, Gervinho etc

6. Tell them that Arsenal has signed Arshavin to a 5 year contract. (Arshavin is one of
the most hated players in Arsenal. His contract expired this year and he will most likely
not be re-signed due to poor performance. But keep saying you heard he has been re-signed
to a new contract).

The aim here is not be factual but to avoid arguing with an obnoxious Arsenal fan on his
own terms. Whatever he says, keep repeating items 1 – 6 ad infinitum.

pls believe me, we don't hate your club rather we are trying to stop all these mental/emotional tortures the club and coach you melting out to u our brothers. i felt very bad the day arsenal played final pf carlin cup with birmingham after much celebrations by arsenal fans, martins spoilt the day for the club and fans.
we want our brothers in arsesnal to enjoy once in a while like those of us in enyimba, chelsea, man u and man cit just to mention but a few.
all these mediocre players from relegated clubs u are celebrating now will not solve the problem. sale wenger, buy rednapp and use the balnace to buy quality water for the players and things will change for good.
harry is sure to break that jinx of trophy for ur club. like i said, we no hate una pls.pele
