I was in school today, there was a peaceful protest, zenith and Skye banks have been closed down (school branches ) their branches in town refused to sell us scratch cards

I WAS IN IFE AND ON CAMPUS TODAY TO SOLVE ACCOMMODATION STUFF. CAMPUS IS DESERTED AND STUDENTS ARE LEAVING IN DROVES FOR HOME.

It is no longer news nau. I remember a number of years back b4 I got admission in unilorin for Bsc., a friend of mine got admission b4 me in oau but I graduated b4 him in unilorin. This fundamental problem is planted inside oau campus and it is deeply rooted, if it doesn't come from Unions, it will come from SUG, it can even come from ASSU sef. So every session it is inevitable and sacrosanct.

Same here, I went there yesterday, I was told the cards will be available once the school resumes.

We may resume soon o, FG has dissolved OAU governing council and canceled the new VC election, and may announce acting VC soon.

The name of the Acting Vice Chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University is Professor Aina Adamolekun From the department of Mechanical Engineering - Federal University of Technology Akure
Popularly known as Mr No nonsense.

He had served as Acting Vice Chancellor in two other Federal Universities in the past that had similar issue like that of Obafemi Awolowo University.

He was appointed by the federal government to restore peace in Obafemi Awolowo University through the recommendation of Nigeria University Commission.

He was given four mandates by the federal Government.

1. To serve as the Acting Vice Chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University pending the time a new Vice Chancellor will be elected in the University.

2. Investigate into the affairs of recent concluded Administration of the Obafemi Awolowo University

3. Reconstitute a new governing council for the Obafemi Awolowo University

4 Finally, to stabilize the Academic Calendar of the Obafemi Awolowo University which was reported to had undergone instability in previous years from the report submitted to the presidency.

The University community is therefore enjoyed to corporate with Professor Aina and other members of the cabinet that will constitute his administration.

1. “To recommend a qualified member of Senate to the Honorable Minister of Education for appointment as Acting Vice-Chancellor” as directed by the Visitor to the University.

Kindly note that this meeting has been called and will be chaired by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Prof. O. A. Ajayi, pursuant to the following provisions of the Standing Orders of Senate:

“1b. The Senate shall also meet to transact urgent business at such other times as the Vice-
Chancellor, or in his absence, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor shall require.” and
“4(2) In the absence of the Vice-Chancellor, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor shall preside at meetings of Senate.”

A new Vice Chancellor, albeit in acting capacity, has emerged for the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Osun State.

He is Professor Anthony Elujoba of the Faculty of Pharmacy.

His emergence comes barely 24 hours after the Federal Government ordered the Senate of the school to use its internal mechanism in selecting a new Vice Chancellor.

There has been series of protests against the former Vice Chancellor, Prof Bamitale Omole, who has been accused of mismanaging resources of the institution.

In a letter addressed to the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission, President Buhari directed the Senate not to consider any of the candidates who earlier contested for the position.

The Senate of the institution approved the appointment of Professor Anthony Elujoba as the acting VC.

Workers and students of the institution recently trooped out in jubilation following the dissolution of the school’s governing council and the suspension of the selection of the vice chancellor by the federal government.

According to the staff and students, the federal government’s decision was a step towards the redemption and integrity of the institution, which for weeks had been hit by crisis after the exit of the immediate past Vice Chancellor, Prof Bamitale Omole.
