There is no gain saying that one of the definitive characteristics of a democratic system is the existence of opposition party (ies). In a working political atmosphere, these Parties check the excesses of government, while working assiduously to take over power through constitutional means. Among strategies they adopt to take over power are formation of political alliances, presentation of people oriented manifesto and so on.
The last election which was adjudged by both local and international observers as the fairest saw Parties fielding their best candidates to contest the no.1 seat. It is no longer news that some Parties abandoned their candidates in support of the PDP (as exemplified by Tinubu and his ACN). The ACN in a bid to give the Party national coloration, fielded Ribadu from the North, but later abandoned him in the heat of the election.
Recently, the media has been flooded with reports of an alliance between CPC and ACN. Tinubu and Buhari are said to be in secret talks, which may culminate in both Parties presenting a single candidate. At one of such meetings, it was reported that Tinubu alluded to wielding more political power than Awolowo and MKO Abiola put together. Let us not forget that Tinubu may have ended up as an obscure entity, but for the emergence of Fashola on whose back he has ridden, and this, after a characteristic display of tendencies to hold unto power for life.
These acts are shameful, and do not represent the true image of the Yoruba nation. Hence, the following questions r pertinent: will the alliance work, can both Parties be trusted? Has Buhari suddenly become a saint to attract the fancy of the ACN, or does Tinubu intend to play a fast one and abandon him as he did with Ribadu? Ultimately, with what is known about both men, can they win an election in Nigeria? Nigerians are waiting patiently to see if the product will be a holy or an unholy alliance. But seriously, what do you guys think?
p.s. i look forward to being listed on the front page.

Well, formation of alliance in a democratic system is a well come development as this helps to strengthen the system. I salute the initiative. There are however some issues that must be addressed before we adjudge this reported marriage as rewarding. Who produces the flag bearer and under what platform? Are the Yorubas ready to sacrifice their ACN for CPC? Are the parties sincere about the process? So Buhari's politically agenda is best for Yoruba Nation abi? While we await the outcome of this process, I advice both parties to thread carefully, as both may be preparing for their political demise. Failure of 1 here means the collapse of all.

The rightness or wrongness of an action is determined first and foremost by Intention. What are they intending to achieve? Can both parties convince supporters that the alliance can be trusted and that who ever emerges will represent both parties? While wishing ACN and CPC successfull alliance, we hope some of them will not run back to our media house crying foul. Betrayal stinks
