The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Umar Manko, revealed on Friday that the command has arrested three persons, including a retired naval officer, for allegedly possessing 8,450 live cartridges.

Parading the suspects at the Police Headquarters, Ikeja, Manko said that the ammunition was smuggled through Seme, a border town in Lagos.

He said that the ammunition was intercepted by police officers from the Trade Fair Police Division on stop and search patrol.

“The police intercepted one white Volkswagen bus with registration number XT 537 LSD, loaded from Seme Boarder en route Balogun Market at Trade Fair Complex, Lagos,” he said. “Based on suspicion, the said vehicle was brought to the station and a search was conducted.

26 cartons of live cartridges concealed in T-shirts bags out of 28 bags found in the said vehicle were recovered. A Navy Warrant Officer’s uniform, a bag of beans, ID card, beret and shoes were also recovered inside the vehicle.”

The police boss said that investigation into the case had taken his officers to Onitsha, Anambra State, where one of the owners of the consignment was arrested.

Manko said that the suspect attempted to bribe the officers with the sum of N61, 200 before he was arrested and brought to Lagos.

He assured that effort would be intensified to arrest the three fleeing suspects

Let them us tell the names of the culprits because it is only when an igbo or a yoruba man commits such crime that he is caught and made public, but if an hausa man is caught he will be set free and this accounts for the arms and ammunitions that BOKO HARAM and the Fulanis have in their possession

Guilty conscience !! Everybody knows who the arms dealers and drug couriers are. We are still waiting for those responsible for the Ghana arms consignment to be public ally tried. The arms are either for actualization of Biafra or for sale to the highest bidder - they don't give a damn (just like our president) as long as money is being made.

That was a minute fraction of what we had earlier imported and successfully passed through idiroko enroute onitsha. We have been amassing and will continue. We have rocket launchers and some light and heavy machine guns in undisclosed locations scattered all over the eastern states. So nothing to worry about. We won't make d same mistake Ojukwu made starting a war with no guns and amunitions. By the time the disintegration of this entity starts, there will be enough to go round all men of 50 and below to defend the sovereignty of the Biafran nation. Biafra in our consciousness.....

You call N16,200 mouth watering? Compare to dozens of police men & innocent citizens that would have been victims of the muderers? Your mouth must be very very DRY!
