But why do you need the engine in the first? Is it for replacement? Is EW10 the car originally came with or is the EW10 the engine in the 406 you want ro replace? Why the need for the EW10?

tanx for d effort bro....the car came wt block 2.0...so the mech said bt more inquiries lead me to another mech who said an ew10 would work better, althou the 2.0 block wil work same bt wil need to remove the ABS which am skeptical about.

Wetin person no go hear from these mechanics! What does ABS got to do with engine? Hm! Anyway, we have 5 types of 2.0 406 engine: XU10 J4R, XU10 J2TE (Turbo), EW10 J4 (RFV), EW10 J4 (RFR) & EW10 D. I believe the ECUs of these engines would differ, together with their harness. It would be better to put back exactly the same engine in, unless you want to do conversion. Trying a different engine with another harness and ECU might work, but its the risk worth taking? I leave you to answer that.

And please ABS has nothing to do with the type of engine in that engine bay, unless the harness differs. What type of clown did you open that your bonnet for?

lol....that is what we encounter...especially whrn they knw u r nt learned in that line. wil ask the type that came with it and get same.

i just sold one ew10 engine with manual gearbox packed in the 406 i just sold in Nigeria. guys at ladipo paid me 100,000 naira, and i was told its sold for 120,000naira.
on that which concerns changing your engine from 2.0 to ew10, i will advice you stick to Ikenna's advice, look out for the exact engine in yours.

ok ikenna whc of d 2.0 406 EW10 engine is d best?

I have peugeot 406Ew10, it was unfortunate for me that my engine is shorting oil, and it's bringing out white smoke. I was given different options but i also need your counsel as well.
1. I was told to ring it
2. I was told never to ring peugeot engine
3. I was told just to buy half engine
4. I was told i need complete engine
5. I was told just buying the skeleton is o.l

Which one can solve my problem and as in this era of change where cash is no more flowing.

Also how much can i get;
1. Half engine
2. full engine

Am also usin a 406@d moment...bt keeps displaying nd beeping oil pressure insufficient each time am driving with the AC switched on..witihin 10mins of drive it would b beeping,and If I don't switch off the AC or turn off the engine,the temperature would rise beyond normal.....what could be d problem pls?mst mechanics are just doing trial method without getting the problem.

Good morning, my peugoet 406 wagon has been emitting blue smoke after servicing 2months ago. i was told i serviced it with a wrong engine oil. after chaging the oil, the blue smoke stopped until last week when it started again after i top-up the oil. my mechanic advised we ring the engine but i am skeptical about the durability of ringing vs buying a new engine(considering the fact that i just changed the crankshaft).
