Making Phone Theft an unattractive business
Daily, there has been an increasing number of phone thefts, whether in the office, the work place, schools, markets, religious places, our neighbourhood, or even in your home.
As we try to prevent this alarming growing trend, we have come up with some useful suggestions on what we could do to prevent or make the business of sale of ‘stolen phones’ unattractive.
Always do the following whenever you buy a Smartphone, and if you’re yet to apply them and you still have your phone with you, it’s not too late.
 Obtain and secure your purchase receipt from the phone seller – very important.
 Ensure you keep your phone case (paper box) and starter pack in a safe and secured location.
 Peel off or scratch off the IMEI number written at the back panel of your phone (under the battery).
 Always password your phone and change the password at the least once every 3 months
 Lock your phone start-up with a pass code
 Download and install at least 2 GPS tracking and Server enabled backup application in your phone.
Most times, when a phone is stolen, the first instinct is for the thief to switch off the phone, if the phone is pass coded and has a password also, it will be almost impossible for any other person to put the phone on, without having to flash it. The only person that can use that phone would be the person with the password, pass code or the IMEI number, you.
Without an IMEI number, it would be practically impossible to flash the phone, thereby making the phone just an expensive toy to the ‘holder’.
The four ways one can get a phone’s IMEI number are:
1. On the receipt of purchase (if written by the seller)
2. On the phone case (if pasted there by the phone manufacturer)
3. At the back panel of the phone (most likely would have been pasted or engrafted there by the manufacturer)
4. By dialing *#06# (if the phone has been powered on)
In turn, the thief would find it somewhat difficult to sell a ‘stolen’ phone that cannot be tested. No one wants to buy a phone that cannot be powered on and does not possess its IMEI number.
Do this and even if you’re saddened by your lost phone, you’d be glad that you data is safe and retrievable, your phone could be tracked whenever battery is inserted, no one else can use your phone.
However, always keep your phone safe.
Have a nice day.

i dont think d phone should B on code since u ave D GPS server on... just allow dem to use it n u can ave a better chance of trakin.... believe me,people wont scrap off their IMEI cause dey always resale 4 beta versions. if dey try hard n d phone is on code, dey might just drop it (without d battery) or scrap d whole device.....
