GT Assur. One of Nigeria's top 3 insurance company has rebranded and changed its name to MANSARD Insurance


What's your take on the name and logo?

It is the insurance arm of Guaranty Trust Bank Plc. But it has been sold to some foriegn insurance company. Who now renamed it to Mansard Insurance.

Its great taking nigerian insurance to international level. customers should sleep with their 2 eyes closed cos they will be given more quality services than when they are Gtassur. "Here when U need us".

True! But won't the change in name affect their market value here in Nigeria?

Don't forget GT Assur is considered one of the biggest insurance nrands in Nigeria and having to convince customers might just be something else.

What informed the name change? Was it acquired? The name sounds like it has devolved into a one man business.

I agree but these have little or no correlation with the quality of service that the company might be able to offer.

Would have preferred they maintain GTAssur. Yes, it was acquired but brand name matters.

Take Telkom Multilinks as a case study.

The name sounds like that of a terrorist group.

If the change of the name was due to a chane of ownership then i have no problem with but if otherwise is the case then it does not make sense to change a brand. It's similar to what was done to UNilag recently.

are you sure this is real? The old website is still running, there is nothing of such on the old website

Mansard is kind of a weird name but of course Buyer "Name Change" rights.

I believe it was in response to the new CBN directive for banks to divest away from insurance services. So, GTB had to sell off its insurance arm and although to an international firm, will enjoy the market leverage GTAssur has already as top 3 Insurance companies. However, imho as much as Nigerians may get used to the name over time, the logo is poorly desinged and pedestrian. Good news ultimately anyway, as this will raise the standards of our insurance services.

The name change has nothing to do with the quality of service. The name change is due to the CBN directive that all commercial bank should dis-invest in all their subsidiaries and that is why the change in ownership and subsequently the name. Most banks are also in the process of changing the ownership of their subsidiaries in compliance to the CBN guidelines. The CBN guidelines is to reduce the exposure rate of the banks.

That name no sweet sha. Anyway, when did the name of a company start determining the quality of its services?

Thankz for the info. GT assur are just begin proactive their New investor are doing what is necessary to transmit from the Old name to their new name. As much as some of us don't like the new name we don't call the short here. Na their money dey talk.

The likes of other Bank own insurance companies will also change their names soon.

Everything! And I mean everything is in a name.

A brand is built within the circle of its name. A name can either make or mar a brand.

GT Assur grew under the platform of GT Bank. That was one reason the brand really blew from no where to become one of the best.
