PRESIDENT Goodluck Jonathan, on Tuesday, told chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that opposition parties have continued to run down the Federal Government and the ruling party.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 60th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the party, at its national headquarters in Abuja, he alerted the party members to the efforts of opposition parties to drown the PDP.

He said it was necessary to tackle the security challenges facing the nation, adding that Boko Haram was not responsible for the recent killing in Plateau State.

He assured that from the observed trend in recent weeks, the Boko Haram insurgency would soon be a thing of the past.

While assuring that the PDP would remain strong, he credited the party for preserving the unity of the country, through its good work and tolerance for opposition.

The president also revealed plans to involve key ministers in administration and the National Security Adviser (NSA) in subsequent meetings of the PDP NEC, to brief the party leaders of the efforts of government.

Meanwhile, the PDP NEC has accepted the resignation of former chairman of its BoT and former president, Chief Olusegun Obansanjo, who tendered his resignation on April 4, 2012.

The acceptance of his resignation was part of the decisions reached by the NEC, which also passed a vote of confidence on President Jonathan.

The party also passed a vote of confidence on the National Working Committee (NWC) led by Dr Bamanga Tukur.

PRESIDENT Goodluck Jonathan, on Tuesday, told chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that opposition parties have continued to run down the Federal Government and the ruling party.

Why does this man keep looking for irrelevant excuses?

he alerted the party members to the efforts of opposition parties to drown the PDP
Like ACN did in Edo State?

He assured that from the observed trend in recent weeks, the Boko Haram insurgency would soon be a thing of the past.

We are tired of hearing this same story, whatever became of the June deadline

The party also passed a vote of confidence on the National Working Committee (NWC) led by Dr Bamanga Tukur.

Lol. It's not a Nigeria thing. In any society where you have opposition, that's what they do; attempt to bring down the ruling government. It's normal, so there's no cause for alarm.

Ruling party is another thing, GEJ alleged opposition wants to bring down the Federal Government. Yesterday, he was reported saying BH is making him unproductive. Can we then conclude that BH is the Opposition (Just wondering)

actually, the reverse (not opposite) of your conclusion is what he is inferring i.e. The opposition (ACN, NCP, CPC . . . ) is the BH

Every poor man now has enough knowledge to educate a President, But not enough knowledge to make money to fuel his generator.

An ambitious Govt loves criticism cause it allows them address issues .If govt sees criticism as the other way round then many things(not somethings) is wrong with the govt

Boko Haram insurgency is not the only source of insecurity in Nigeria. The govt must also deal with armed robbery, kidnapping, ritual killing and lawlessness across the country.

Any nation already on the edge of a precipice does not need a dumb leader like Jonathan. Cos he will keep on "moving the nation forward".

The poorest and most uneducated of Nigerians will do better than dumbo Jonathan if given the enormous resources and goodwill (expired or expended) at GEJ's disposal. It is to the eternal shame of retardeen that any poor man has to work to fuel generators in an oil producing nation.

Jonathan might be clueless, daft, confused and stu.pid but he is right on this one.I concur 100%.Their is no opposition in nigeria but a violence-instigating clones of men, faking relevance to the uninformed majority.
