Dont just scan it parked, drive it for at least 10 miles so that any codes/warning lights that were cleared would reappear.

Bring it back and scan it very well. get a BMW OBD code list to interprete what codes come up. If none come up, you are golden.

If some come up, interprete and check the severity and fixability before handing over your cash

My tuppence

You seem to know your onions...pls what's d least price you think I can get a reliable, durable 190k miles 2004 bmw 525i for.

I saw one but my bro seriously discouraged me against saying if it develops fault I'll cough out nothing less than 200k for engine repairs and all...

Exactly what I want but can't just raise the cash for it. 2.1m quoted. I've settled for a 2005 mercedes c230. Listen to the advices here and hope you get a good deal. Some nice car there.

The 2.1m quoted, was it coming from the usa and was it high mileage? I'm also tryna get one for myself a 525 to be precise but my brother is severely scaring the shiiit out of me. And how much did you eventually get the 2005 c230?

The 2.1m is landing cost from Germany, excluding clearing. It scared me away. I'm getting a 2005 c240 from Cotonou for 1.7m including clearing and delivery to jos.

I recently bought a BMW 316i (2014). Nice car enjoyable ride, but i have some issues:

(1) I always put tracking system on my cars but now for this car, coscharis(where i bought the car) advice me not to temper with the electric system by putting a tracking system. They Advice me to use comprehensive insurance. So, pls, can somebody tell me if is really not safe to install a tracking system on my BMW or will the comprehensive insurance be a better option.

(2) No spare tire or jack! Does it really work? The BMW came with a run flat tire. How reliable it that? i haven't had a punctured tire since i stated driving the car, but what if when i have. BMW claim that, i can go 100km with a flat tire, that will give me enough time to drive to my BMW dealers to repair the tire. Pls, is there an easier way to deal with this issue? I honestly prefer the spare tire.

first, congratulations on your BMW, that's the way to go...i hope this works great for you...

1. I would suggest you leave it that way as advised by Coscharis, they know it better. How is the built-in security system of the car?
comprehensive insurance is the best path to follow, expensive but worth it.
2. Most folks buy the spare tyre and jack regardless, but i know the run flats don't damage like d conventional tyres...so it's up to you...

Some say it's underpowered, but that would be my pick if I was going with a 7 series due to the fact that the engine is shared across the BMW range so our mechanics will be conversant with it and minor things like servicing won't be an issue.

Since those are the facelift years, I also think reliability will be a lot better since the earlier models had lots of electrical gremlins that were sorted out in the LCI. Do you still have your E60?

i would like to be added to the What'supp group, my phone number is 08064813119, my name is Bob. I drive an e39, this is my second BMW. I had owned a 190 benz and a C-class benz. I still dig BMW, You can't compaire. Its crazy. The stability is mind blowing, excellent fuel efficiency, especially if you can regulate the computer system using your dashboard. I live in the peaceful city of Calabar. We have some 'crazy' BMW mechanics. Mine was parked for a while, but, one of my old mechanics stopped by the house did one or two magics and the car sprang back into action. We have a serious problem of parts over here. They are too too expensive. I needed to by my engine wiper, they don't have it here in Calabar. House members can help me get it. I hear its easy to get from lagos. I saw one on ebay too but, the price was high. Its been raining seriously here. Be glad to be a part of this great group. Have a great day. Someone said you can regulate ur ECU to factory setting. Will try that and get back to the house members. Infact, there so many things you can do with the dash board computer, if you know how to use it.

I remember travelling and I pressed the left traficator control knob. I kept pressing it and observed on the dashboard L/km, temp etc kept changing. I then left it on L/km, while here, it read 15/100km. As I kept accelerating it dropped to 10/100 km. I moved the speedometer to 120km/hr. I maintained tis position for 10km. The L/km again dropped again to 7/100km. I observed that the rate of fuel consumption reduced so drastically, I felt like whao. So, you can cover a distance of 100km and the car will consume + or -, 10 litres only, and if you increase you speed to 150-200km, the car can consume between 7-9 litres of fuel. I have seen on you tube where it consumed just 4litres of fuel in that distance. Though the producers of the video were travelling from Germany to France.

Its important we know how to use the regulators on the dash board.

Thank you for doing the needed. Grateful!

I'm in the process of resurrecting a jalopy BMW that I really knew so little about until now.

I'll appreciate if I get collegiate support from the group as I set out to achieve this in record time under the next ten days.
