mata1ng: I thanked God for His goodness upon me and my family, the tension of over a year finally become real today. Thanks to every members of this great forum indeed it is a tutorial centre and information centre for the immigrant (EXPO). You guys are doing a great job from page 1 to 763 pages no be moi moi. God will reward you all. I have been following this thread from day 1 and it’s my turn to share my experience.
We got to the embassy @ 5.55am for 7am appointment pass through all security checks before gaining access into the hall. We were given a tag and made payment for $990 and waited for our names to be called for documentation at the window 17 and asked us to wait for our tag number to be called for the interview (I thought it was going to be a board room interview but what I saw was like a child’s play) I did not know the interview was already going on because we entered the hall a bit late due to the security check. The guy in window 14 was friendly and straight to business no waste of time he approved 5 families before we were interviewed by the nice elderly man @ window 16 who also approved 3 different families before our turn but thorough. There was a particular couple he interviewed one after the other for like 3 rounds and they were with baby but he later approved their visa, but the oga at the window 15 only interview one applicant for more than 1 hour and he asked the man to produce a particular document before 1p.m. (Please when you are seated try as much as possible to see what is going on because while we were seated we saw the positioning for the thumb print and I explain the process to my wife as this gave us some credit because the CO was just saying beautiful good till we were done). Our number beeped at window 16, we were asked to raise our hand to raise our right hand to take an oath, we did. He showed us the document sent to KCC and asked us to sign and we did. He saw us exchanging our baby who was sleeping to another to enable us complete the finger print and signing so he asked my wife to go and sit down with the baby that he has some questions for me.

Co: why did you play this lottery
Me: To enable me go to America to learn new things and give back to the Americans what I’ve learnt
Co: Do you have any relative in America
Me: Yes my host ( He checked the form and mention his name and his address) I said yes.
Co: How is he to you.
Me: A family friend.
Co: Apart from your host who else do you have in America
Me: No one
Co: Any member of your wife family in America
Me: No.
Co: Tell me about your highest level of education.
Me: When I sent the form to KCC I had OND but now I am through with my B.sc
Co: In what?
Me: Banking & Finance.
Co: How many years did complete you programe.
Me: 5 years (He wanted to raise and exception and I quickly told him it was a part time programe)
Co: Oh I see.
Me: I smiled.
Co: Do you have any other child apart from your son?
Me: No.
Co: What about your wife?
Me: No.
Co: Were you present when your wife gave birth?
Me: Yes.
Co: Where?
Me: Gbagada Lagos.
Co: I mean is it Hospital or traditional
Me: Hospital.
Co: For how long was she in the labour?
Me: We got to the hospital 6.am in the morning and she gave birth 10.pm
Co: Was it CS or normal birth?
Me: Normal birth.
Co: When was she discharged?
Me: The following day. He was amazed.
He brought out 2 paper circle the address and asked me to pick the visa next week and the other paper for visa payment.
Co: Any question.
Me: I said no sir. Before he go change his mind. He returned my original document.

Na so God do am ooo. He still dey do me like a dream.

i say a big congratulation to you and ur family.God that did urs will perfect we that are still waiting for the interview.

seal777: WELCOME TO HOUSTON, WELCOME TO AMERICA.

Now i can truly welcome myself to America, having done with ALL my documentation processes.

1. GREEN CARD 30th day ( delivered 21st day but was returned due to incomplete address ).

2. Social Security Card 25th day ( having told to return to SS office after 21 days in US....).

3. Applied for State ID and Drivers License having told to return after 30 days in the US and Scheduled for Behind the Wheel test 28th May at the DPS office( not learners permit as advised by veterans in America who even took a bet with me that I WILL FAIL THE BEHIND THE WHEEL TEST ).

4. Took and pass the Computer test same day i applied for the Drivers license and got my State ID same day ( plastic copy came in the mail after 10 days ).

5. Since i drive very well before i left Naija, I walk around the streets on regular basis and watch drivers observe the various traffic signals and rules, read the traffic handbook and research on the internet using various YOU TUBE VIDEOS available in preparing for the test.

6. 28th May , i was at the DPS office for my Behind the wheel test and I PASSED CLINICALLY ( without attending any driving school or previous behind the wheel training from anyone in America ). I was given a print out copy while i expect the plastic copy in less than 2 weeks.

LESSON 1. I noticed there are too many negative thoughts from those we refer to as " VETERANS " in the US, most especially those who find things very hard / difficult when they arrived the US in their days ( with or without genuine documents ). They tend to limit the extent of how far we can go as new immigrant with " LIMITED OR NO EXPERIENCE " of the American system.

LESSON 2. Not all those who live in America actually knows America as i was shocked in learning that majority of the rules and procedures i read on the internet was very true while majority of the ideas been sold to me here by those who are suppose to know ( 10 - 35 yrs in the American system ) are not only false but lack substance in its entirety.

LESSON 3. Never associate or listen to anyone who rather than encourage you in achieving a mission, discourage you by giving you million reasons why such can not be done. There are too many negativity thoughts in our peoples mind here in America and such are capable of undermining the successes of intelligent, educated and forward looking immigrants who left Naija with the will and mission to succeed in America.

LESSON 4. Survival in America is based on the power of information, which is readily available on the internet. Learn to research very vigorously for information, make calls to information's numbers and get first hand information from the source and not rely on HEAR SAY.

If you are convinced beyond reasonable doubt you can achieve a feat, go ahead and give it a try ( having made necessary preparations and caution taken ), you are better of failing at the first attempt than not trying at all for the fear of failure or result of discouraging tales from those around you.

HUMAN WISDOM IS LIMITED BUT WITH GOD, NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE.

BEST OF LUCK TO EVERYONE.

thanks for this vital info.we will catch up with u soonest

Gentiger: MY ADVICE TO ALL NEW IMMIGRANTS

DON'T be fooled by $10/hr job you're doing now. Go back to school while working full/part time. Admission for Fall semester is on across the nation. Enrolment ends June/July for Fall semester which kicks off in last week in August. Take advantage of the enviable courses offered in community colleges scattered all over the federation. Google up community college or Education District for your area and commence enrolment process immediately . Don't wait. Be focused. The government pays all expenses when you take advantage of the grant offered. You could have up to $2500 excess cash from government at the end of your program. Some of the juicy courses you could find include an associate degree in:

1. Electronics and electrical engineering
2. Information Technology/Computer science
3. Business Administration with specialization in Economics/Banking and finance or Accounting
4. Registered nursing
5. Sociology/Social works
6. Anthropology
7. Psychology
8. Criminal Justice System/forensic science
9. Paralegal studies
10. Civil and construction engineering
and many, many more.

After 2/3yrs of study, you could begin earning $50/$80 per hour. I wish you well in your chosen career path.

Gentiger signing off from Los Angeles, CA.

thanks for this wonderful info.we will join you soonest

Rolling_138: Apologies for the late post, I didn’t take my laptop along to Lagos and just returned to my base.
We had our interview on Thursday 21 March and God granted us success. We got to the embassy around 6:20am and we didn’t wait for long when a man came out and asked us to cue for 6:30 non-immigrant and 7:00 Immigrant visa interview appointments. Got through all the rigorous security checks and finally entered the interview hall, paid the visa fees for our family of three, and submitted our documents at window 16. It didn’t take so long when the CO’s started showing up and the interview started. We were the second to be interviewed by the CO at window 15. He spent up to 25 minutes looking through our documents before our number flashed on the display for us to approach the counter.
My wife is the principal applicant and the interview went as follows;
CO: Goodmorning
We: Goodmoring
CO: Asks us to raise our right hand and does the oath thing; Do you swear to say the truth today and nothing but the truth
We: Yes we do
CO: Takes our fingerprints and asks me to go sit down with our baby while he chats with my wife
Me: okay, I went and sat down carrying our baby who had fallen asleep after a lot of play.
CO: Why is your husband’s passport full of stamps?
Wife: He was studying in the UK and had to come home every break ‘cos of his work
CO: What was he studying there ?
Wife: Mechanical Engineering
CO: I can see your baby was born in the UK, tell me about him
Wife: Told him baby’s DOB and few things
CO: What is your highest level of education
Wife: B.Ed degree
CO: Tell me about your course
Wife: Explains her course to the CO
CO: Have you ever taught before?
Wife: Only during my teaching practice, I taught Bleep Bleep Bleep
CO: When did you meet your husband?
Wife: Bleep Bleep Bleep
CO: Where did you meet your husband
Wife: Bleep town
CO: were you schooling in Bleep town?
Wife: I schooled in YYY town but met my husband in Bleep town, the distance is not that far, moreover our family house is in Bleep town.
CO: When did you travel to the UK?
Wife: DDMMYYYY
CO: Did you travel together with your husband?
Wife: No, he had to leave before me for his studies because my visa was not ready then.
CO: When did you come back to Nigeria
Wife: I can’t remember the exact date but it was Bleep month
CO: Opens wife’s passport and checks to confirm the date she was stamped back into Nigeria.
CO: Did you do your child naming?
Wife: Yes, we did
CO: Did any of your family member come over for the naming / dedication?
Wife: No, it was just friends and church members
CO: Can I see the pics
Wife: Sure; flips album to show him pics and talks about some people in the pictures.
CO: Can you please go and sit down and call me your husband.
Wife: Calls me and collects our baby from me.
CO: You studied Mechanical Engineering in the UK, what year did you start?
Me: I started in 2009
CO: Have you ever applied for a US visa before?
Me: Yes, I have.
CO: at that time what were you doing?
Me: I was working with company A
CO: so what happened, you left company A for B?
Me: No, I am still working for the same company; I’ve been with them for a long time now.
CO: Can I see your work Identity Card?
Me: I brought out my work Id. Card alongside a letter of introduction from my company and gave it to him. He collected both items and read through.
CO: oh that’s true; it’s like company A & B merged or something
Me: Yes, the companies merged.
CO: so was it the company that paid for your degree in the UK?
Me: No, I paid for my studies myself.
CO: Your mechanical engineering was it General Mechanical engineering or was it specifically related to the oil &gas industry
Me: it was general mechanical engineering.
CO: When did you get married?
Me: 2010, did the church wedding on December XX, 2010.
CO: Can you tell me where you met your wife?
Me: I met my wife in a supermarket in Bleep town.
CO: one moment please. He left and went to pick some documents
Me: okay
CO: comes back with 2 sheets of paper and hides them under his counter.
CO: I will ask you one last thing
Me: okay
CO: This gentleman you’ve added here; (he points to a sheet of paper we submitted to update our hosts address) do you know him personally, have you met him before?
Me: Yes, he’s a very close friend, I opened the album to show him pictures with our host, but he stops me. (I guess he realized he had spent so much time with us; about 30 mins)
CO: oh don’t bother.
CO: Throughout this whole process, has he or anybody else asked you to pay money for anything ?
Me: No, not at all.
CO: Please call your wife to come
Me: I called my wife and she came to stand with me at the window carrying our baby.
CO: I am satisfied. I will give you a visa today. He picks the two sheets of paper he had hidden under the counter and circles an address for us to pick up the visa on one, then started explaining the proxy pick up process and the $165 payment on the other sheet of paper.
We: Thank you very much, God Bless you and God Bless America. We hurriedly packed our things and left before he remembers more questions to ask us.

Guys, na so the thing be o !, the guy ask us questions so tay we tire.
We thank God immensely for granting us Divine favour.
I also wish to use this opportunity to greatly appreciate my lovely wife for the way and manner she answered the barrage of questions that the CO fired at her. (I have been playing the DV lottery every year since 2000 and never won, we got married and just played once, then she won.)

congratulation

sina_adegoke: Hi house. Just came back from my visa interview. I know this is arguable, but thanks to God, it should be the shortest interview ever.

It went like this;
Interviewer: Hi
Me: Hi. Nice tie
Interviewer: (Blushes, looks at his tie, smiles widely, then looks at me): Thanks.
Interviewer: Are you Adegoke?
Me: Yes, Adegoke Adesina
Interviewer: Which school did u finish from?
Me: OAU, Ile Ife
Interviewer: When did u graduate?
ME: 1999
Interviewer:Which course did u study?
Me: Engineering Physics
Interviewer: How come you're in banking?
Me: Nigerian banks take graduates from all fields. You get trained on the job. So....
Interviewer: I was an Engineer too, and I found myself here, so I understand u
Me: You don't say
Interviewer: Yeah
Me: Where u begin and where u end are two different things

He kept smiling all the way, almost whistling when he brought out the forms, congratulated me, & told me my visa has been approved.

My tip for those awaiting the interview is.... Follow the instructions on the website thoroughly, & be very nice & civil. It can shorten ur interview considerably.

But more importantly, be confident in God. When it's ur time to change location, then it's ur time, hopefully for d best.

I am now officially a Yankee.

Meet u guys on the other side!
congratulation to you.we will also meet u soonest

f-geemomen:
I woke up as early as 4 a.m, prepared and ready to face any CO at the embassy. I prayed, wore my suite and tire and set of to the embassy. I reached there exactly 5:30 a.m and looking around I was the second person to reach the embassy. I waited under the tree outside the embassy very refreshed and ready. A pastor come around where we were sitting prayed and shared the word of God with us. By the time it was 6:00 a.m a lot of people came around also waiting to be called in for interview. I had a hint to make sure I was part of the first 10 in the line so I started walking towards the gate. At 6:45 we were called in for security checks. I left all coins and mobile fon out just to avoid long hours of wait. I just went tru without any hindrance.
I paid my VISA fee and my documents were checked n they collected all thus both original and photocopies. I was called to window 4. I realized that CO denied abt 3 people due to incomplete documents and other reasons...on filling my dv lottery I made a mistake in D.O.B and wrote 1990 instead of 1987, I swore an affidavit and took it along in case I was asked abt it, to be frank I was soo scared, I prayed n left all to God.
CO: Gud morning
Me: Gud morning
CO: raise ur hand n swear to tell the whole truth
Me: I did n swore
CO: showed me my form I sent to KCC and asked me to answer question 41 before we continued, which was abt weda I hav been arrested b4.
Me: I did n she asked me to sign beside it
CO: she then made me take the oath again to tell the truth
Me: I did just that
CO: which year did u complete secondary school
Me: I told her
CO: what did u do after u completed SHS?
Me: I was waiting to be admitted into the university
CO: ok, how many times did you write WASSCE?
Me: once
CO: which University did u attend?
Me: told her
CO: when did you complete?
Me: told her
CO: what program did u study?
Me: BSc Economics and Business Administration
She picks up a blue sheet half of A4 paper and circled the DV and asked me to come pick up my VISA on 8th Feb 2013.
CO: congratulations and thanks for coming
Me: Thank you
CO: dnt make any preparations until u take your VISA.

widelink: HERE IS MY INTERVIEW EXPERIENCE.
I got to the embassy with my wife and my 24days old baby girl around 5:50am. We were called to line up @ 6:30am for security checks, the security too much here ooo my people...well, we have said prayers as if heaven wan fall. We got to the main building where interview takes place. I was given a number that would be called @ designated window though I firstly paid $990 for three of us. I was called @ window 13 to submit our documents and surprisingly; the lady gave me a warm smile when she saw the correspondence that I wrote to the KCC when I submitted my DS 230 form. I explained in the letter that my wife was pregnant and we could appear more than two during the interview I also included the shot of my wife during pregnancy grin grin She returned my letter and the picture and asked me to go back and wait for my number to be called for proper interview. Sorry for the story so far....I was called at window 16 where the white consular there just denied the first person that just left her window, yeeehhhh!!! shocked the fear first catch me.

Me: Good morning

Me: I explained but she was lost my technical terms
Co: Tell me another course
Me: Electrical Drafting and Design
Co: Whats the relationship between that and telecommunication?
Me: I started and she was unable to look straight into my eyes again and by that time she started typing something on her computer
Co: You submitted 2 results and y?
Me: I had pass in my English by the time I was given admission but the requirements have changed now because I needed another result for my Post Graduate Studies.
Co: Whats your favourite subject?
Me: Physics
Co: Why physics when you did not have best grade in it?
***I MUTED; WHATS HER OWN NOW*** I replied with boldness

Co: Who gave your baby the first name
Me: I did as a father
Co: Whats the name your mother in-law gave the baby?.......I forgot that one oooo

Co: I said your mother in-law***** she was unable to cover what she was hiding again
Me: She didnt name her before I printed the names out of my personal printer.
Co: You really tried, I will give you Visa
SHE CIRCLED AND ADDRESS AND ASKED ME TO PICK OUR VISAS THERE AND RETURN OTHER DOCUMENTS.

SHE DID NOT EVEN BORDER TO CALL MY WIFE AT ALL BECAUSE BY THAT TIME MY WIFE WAS SHIVERING ON HER SIT FOR THE LONG JOURNEY INTERVIEW. TO GOD BE THE GLORY I MADE IT.

I WISH YOU ALL THE BEST..

congratulations to u.

seye4God: THE MIRACULOUS BIRTH OF OUR DIVINE TWINS

I will always serve, worship and sing praises to the Lord for what He did for my family in year 2011.

JEHOVAH should be glorified on our behalf. It was like a dream or let me say it was a drama. I couldn't believe what I experienced that day and I don’t think I will ever forget either. When there was none to call upon during 2011 Nigerian Presidential Election but God. He (God) was there at the beginning and saw us through to the end and He will forever be our guiding PAPA in Jesus precious name.

The miracle drama began on early morning of Saturday, 16th April 2011 at about 12.45am (as earlier stated, it was the day of Nigerian Presidential Election). There was a restriction of movement due to nationwide curfew from 10pm of Friday 15th, to 6am of Saturday 16th, April 2011. My wife woke me @12.45am or thereabout to rob her leg. I was doing that when she complained again of back pain. It did not occur to me that she was about to deliver even to her that had had such experience during our first daughter’s birth. One of the greatest things God did was to make sure that there was no interruption of power supply throughout that day (in Nigeria, power interruption is not new; it has been part of our daily affair).

My brain started ringing bell immediately I saw her urinate on several occasions. I confronted her about the arrival of the twins as we had earlier known when she did her pregnancy scan. As devil would have his way, five neighbours of ours have cars but only bad-one was parked in the compound as this time. All other cars were in various motor mechanic workshops for servicing and maintenance. I summoned courage to go out at 1.25am to inform a nurse at the next building. I just wasted time without seeing anyone to assist until when I visited for the second time. I was told the nurse was not around and that there was no car either to convene my wife to the hospital.

Having prepared the needed materials for her delivery which were in two bags, I told her to wait at the gate where three men, one woman and myself were seeking for someone who could assist us to convey her to the nearby hospital. All our efforts were wasted without yielding any result. We made several phone calls without any positive response. As we decided to walk instead of looking for car, we saw her on the bared sand-floor where she was struggling to deliver the first girl – TAIWO. As I was about telling her to stand up, a neighbour and I saw the baby’s head coming out, the neighbour ran away immediately when he saw it and started shouting for help. Rather than running away, I kneeled down to use my hands in accepting the baby rather than allowing her to touch ground. I cried for help since I did not know how to cut the placenta. The time should be 1.45am or thereabout. Taiwo was in my hands and there was none to cut the placenta. My wife only told me to cover the baby with her scarf which I did immediately. She said because of breeze.

Looking round, I could see hundred of neighbours who were seeking for the person that could assist us. There were prayers left and right since no one knew what else to do. What a mystery! After I successfully covered Taiwo with the scarf, I shouted for help. I saw that the baby was well and sound; even though she was not crying as at that time. Nevertheless, my heart was troubled about the condition of my wife and the 2nd child (KEHINDE) in her womb.

As we were making several phone calls and looking for a professional nurse to attend to her, some women ran to look for traditional nurses (Agbebi) at the nearby Celestial Church on the advice of a qualified nurse we spoke with on phone. What else did you expect from beloved brethren who were with us? Some were blaming me for not allowing her to have come out early; some were saying another thing; while some were running to quickly solve the issue on ground. Like I said earlier, my wife and I did not know that her time was due because there was no sign at all. It was when I noticed her urinating simultaneously that I discovered. “Blame or no blame, I pitied people that were denied of their comfort just to come to render assistance to us. None of our neighbours could sleep because of this critical issue. Some people that even live far from our house also woke to assist us when they heard the thunderous noise. The time should be 2.05am if I was not mistaken. (It is good to be good). I did not let that weigh me down; I was just making phone calls to see how we could quickly resolve the issue rather than listening to futile castigations. “It is an emergency” that was what I was saying to my subconscious mind.

If I may be right, the time was 2.10am when the two traditional nurses arrived. They peacefully cut the placenta and handed Taiwo to a lady who knew how to clean new born baby’s body. I saw her off to my room where Taiwo was cleaned. I was told to be patient even though my name was not patience. They also asked me to leave the bared sand-floor (her delivery room to say). They placed clothes under her and she was told to push for Kehinde to come out. What I noticed was that, Kehinde who had already coming closed to Taiwo when God carried the delivery through me, moved up instantly and that made it difficult for the traditional nurses. They ordered us to bring Taiwo and placed her close to her mother for her twins’ sister – Kehinde’s delivery (I was told if Kehinde should hear taiwo’s cry, she will come out). All practical experiments performed on this sand were in vain. It was as if they knew what was happening. After wasting almost 30minutes on the bared sand-floor at the front of our house, the two traditional nurses with one of our neighbours, who joined them when they were coming to rescue the weak woman – my wife (what a pity!), quickly carried her helpless, naked and weak body to almost 10meters away from our house.

About the financial part, we thanked God; I was on MTN Happy Hour (free calls of 12.30am – 4.30am). All phone calls to MTN lines were free of charge since I had more than N100 credit during that period. As my phone was on, my parents could hear what was happening underground but they could not come because of the nationwide curfew. Our pastor, brothers, aunties, uncles and in-laws whom I had earlier informed of the situation equally joined us in prayers. Don’t forget our neighbours and all well-wishers – numbers in hundred, were outside praying in whatever language they understood both in Islamic and Christianity ways.

On getting to the church, she was placed on a concrete floor in the compound and I was denied to have access to her. There was an aged woman who mounted the gate and denied any of our neighbours, friends or other women to gain access too except the two traditional nurses and other assigned women. Checking the time, it should be 2.45am. The Church Elder-in-Charge went up with a ringing-bell shouting the name of JEHOVAH, all members who were around during vigil were equally joined us in prayer. Hundred of neighbours and well-wishers were calling on the name of God for quick intervention. I wanted to pray but when the spirit reminded me of my vow to God several years back; I started praising, worshiping and thanking God instead.

While doing this, I then made a vow that the world will hear about the story if God should allow my wife to deliver Kehinde peacefully with the mother and daughter alive – (that was the genesis of this great testimony and why YOU hear of it too!). God knows better than we do. It is the Lord’s doing and it is marvellous in our sight. It took them another 30minutes before she finally delivered Kehinde and placenta came almost immediately. I was rolling on a bared sand-floor as a token of my appreciation to God. Kehinde was brought to my room at about 3.28am; I am 1,005% sure of this particular time because I checked and confirmed it. People were thanking God for the great work He had done.

Before 5.30am, after the traditional nurses had cleaned up my wife and the concrete floor where she delivered Kehinde; she was brought to our room to rest. I could see vividly that the poor woman was too weak. The traditional nurses said we should allow her to rest without any disturbance.

At exactly 6.05am, when the curfew period was over for about an hour, I saw my mother and two of my younger sisters coming from home to attend to her. After receiving them on the road, I briefed them of what took place and showed them the bared sand-floor where she delivered Taiwo in my hands. Our mother then asked us, “Where was JESUS CHRIST BORN?” My heart touched with her response.

Please, no matter how big your burden is just put your trust in God. Only Him can do what no man can’t do (Proverb 30:5). You are passing through that situation for a reason. Is there not a cause? (1Samuel 17:27-29) That was the response of David to his elder brother – Eliab when he visited them at the war camp. At the end, the young boy “David” defeated his country greatest enemy “Goliath” at the age of 10. Our God will not come down to do the work but will definitely send someone to assist us. Let us play our own part to keep serving and worshiping Him (Job 36:11-12; Deuteronomy 28:1-68). I am only sharing this story because of the vowed I made when she was about to delivered Kehinde.

My prayer is that; God will answer the prayer of all women who are seeking for the fruit of womb as He did to Sarah; Hannah; Rebecca; Elizabeth and others. All women that are conceived shall visit delivery room not labour room to deliver peacefully without any difficulty. All caring and loving parents will never bury their children or cry over anyone of them. We shall all enjoy the fruit of our labour; as we will not be found wanting when the time comes and rest in the LORD at old age (Job 5:26).
Please always remember our heavenly home. We shall all be present there in Jesus Precious Name.

I gave kudos to all MOTHERS! I saw the reality of how I and everyone reading this testimony were born. That is why the middle name of all women is “FAVOUR”. It is only Adam & Eve that were not conceived and delivered by any woman but all other living beings came out of WOMEN.

Kindly endeavour to share this great testimony to everyone around you for God’s name to be glorified. It was my vow to God during the struggle and I must definitely do it. Once, sharing this testimony attract nothing except to fulfil the vow I made to God. Share it with your congregation and other pastors around for God's name to be glorified.

Yours in His service.

ifeanyi.abdul:
I have an observation: long time ago on this thread, Temmy told the house that there was nothing like high case no. I was puzzled by his statement, but now I appreciate what Temmy was saying. Just imagine Gentiger's observation: he witnessed 6 visa denials. Probably, in one single day, as much as 10 could be denied visa on the average! Multiply this with the number of days since interview started in Oct 2012. Now this tells you that there is great hope for someone with case no. of 85,000! The unfortunate thing however is that the success of man today and in the future hangs on "on-line activities"; sadly, most of the winners do not know a forum like this exists. Too bad! For the few of us who are privileged to be members of this forum, pls prepare well; dot all the I's and cross all the T's. Pray hard before and after! Unfortunately, because of the high poverty index in this part of the world and of course coupled with our social backgrounds, many winners of dv 2013 might be unaware of this forum. Let me tell u why: As a typical African winner of the DV lottery, there is a high tendency of one to be totally secretive; in your mind u will say, if I tell my neigbor or my uncle, them fit put sand sand for my garri, dem fit spoil show for me with juju. That's the usual thinking, but may be that neigbor, that uncle, that colleague in d office, that friend might just be the Angel, who would have directed you to this forum. It's a pity many Africans die wretched! As a rule of the thumb, be circumspective, but remain open with wisdom!! Thank God for Nairaland, may God help us to utilise this thread well, Amen! Let's also remember, do not bite the fingers that fed you! On this note, I want to appreciate and salute the collaborative team work of old and new members of this forum. Absolutely, a story on this forum cannot be told without mentioning the inputs of Temmy and Gentiger. I forsee them as 2 great friends to be. I have the conviction that this forum will serve as a bridge for building true and lasting friendships. I have a dream that one day, this forum will unite many members of this forum in the United States. I have a dream that the myopic thoughts of tribal , ethnic, and religious differences will be broken down and shattered to promote and foster a lasting legacy of true friendship. I believe these will certainly happen. Obviously, many other names not mentioned here are champions of us; you and I know these names. We salute you all! To our man of God, GodhelpmeOO, we are prepared to fast n pray today. Thank you!!!

Na true you talk.

Gentiger: For anyone going for interview anytime soon, please read this and follow suit. I witnessed about 6 DV visa denials yesterday. The black Angel denied 2 different DV applicants and the white Angel denied as twice as much. I listened to the line of questioning to discover what they seek to establish before they approve DV lottery win.

Some other countries don't get the kind of academic scrutiny we get for the following reasons:

1. They are academically sound and their schools are ranked high globally.
2. Academic fraud is impossible in these countries unlike our beloved country where even a serving senator or governor is using 'Toronto' certificate. You get what I mean.

DV lottery is meant for two reasons:

1. Cultural and ethnic diversity in the US.
2. Injection of best brains to boost economic growth in the US.

The reason for the academic drilling is to ensure the person coming into the US will be economically relevant and viable. They need innovation and productivity not liabilities or lay about. Before your number is called by the CO for interview, I observed some staff behind the counters crutinizing each file. They make recommendations and draw up possible questions to ask which is placed inside your file for the CO. The CO is merely asking predetermined questions drawn up by experienced minds. They know what answers they seek. You must perform credibly well to merit a visa.

Now when you appear before the CO, they want to see how well and confidently you can express yourself. If you cannot sell Your self credibly well, you can't sell the American ideals. If you can't exhibit matured reasoming, you would be considered a liability.

The few DV selectees who were denied yesterday could not make confident statements without annoying grammatical blunders. Most don't answer the questions asked. They choose answers which are unrelated to the questions posed. Please avoid this. Some contradict what they filled in the form. I saw a lady denied because the CO accused her of lying on oath. Another was denied because he couldn't list atleast 3 topics in mathematics. Another couldn't defend his O'levels. Please tell me of what benefit these categories of people would be to the US economy?

Now here is my advice, prepare well. Please prepare very well. Polish up your English a bit more. Read your best subjects. Now let me tell you something else I discovered. You are the one who determines the course they ask you questions from. I heard CO's ask each applicant their best course at school. I was asked. I told her contract law . I chose contract Law because I lectured junior students for free while I was a student. It was my favorite. If you wake me up by 2am, I can cite over 50 law cases on contract with their facts and decisions. This was why I could lecture the CO and her mouth was agape. I don't mean to boast, but I don't think anyone ever addressed that lady the way I did. She was speechless. I held her spellbound. You can do the same.

Choose your best subject. Begin to read. Please read hard. Pick up your dictionaries and learn new words. Dont allow the skin colour of a white person intimidate you. Don't allow her phonetics subdue your self confidence. Rise above the board. You can do it my brothers and sisters because I did it. Go and face the CO. Come back here and testify.

Lastly, I met a young guy who probably couldn't be above 25 yrs with a girl of probably 20 who he claims is his wife. They were denied. The CO didn't even look at their pictures. It was the black angel by the way that denied them. They know the average age Nigerians marry. They knew they were players.

If you married after your eDV application but before the results were released, you got no problems. If you married after the results were released, you got a big mountain to climb. Your chances are slim but not impossible. With God, nothing shall be impossible. Wearing uniform as a couple is not the key. Cuddling while waiting for your number to be called only shows your hidden guilt. Your best bet is to maintain your single status after you've won if you are still very young in age. That's my personal opinion. Your chances are so slim if you marry. Goodluck to all interview hopefuls. Goodluck my dearest friends on Nairaland. I'll post some official document to help you on your journey. Allow me today or tomorrow. Gentiger signing off. Love you all.

BOOKMARK THIS PAGE AND READ THIS BEFORE YOUR INTERVIEW.

Gentiger: Let me begin by thanking you all. You're all truly wonderful and dearly loved. I appreciate Spoondar, Kemzone, Temmy, Adesoji, Brightmon, Ifeanyi.Abdul, Jidedon, Adzovia, Tiwana, Bussyme, Gunners4u, Junkerhill, Honeydee, Remmy, ChirpyWest, Ibracadabra, and everyone not expressly mentioned. I wish I could remember all your beautiful names. Thank you all for the prayers and inspiration. God bless you all.

I left the house by 4:45am and arrived 5:20am. We observed all the necessary protocols and the checks and got ushered in. I purposely sat in such a away as to have a clear view of the white lady everyone dreads. I needed to inderstand her methods, temperament and ideology should in case I am sent to her.

She denied virtualy everyone who got to her desk. I realized it's not about the woman. It's about the applicants who come ill-prepared. She wants to be sure you TRULY MERIT the visa. Her question are not difficult but tricky and searching. From my interactions with her, I figured she must be a lawyer or someone with legal exposure. She asked me questions, more of a cross examination using legal terms known only to legal minds.

Now this is the secret to dealing with her. Learn forward and look her right in the eyes. That makes her uncomfortable and less composed. It's like turning the table against her. Answer her questions with CONFIDENCE even If you're not so sure of the answers. Maintain eye contact and be polite to a fault. Her approach could make you edgy and could provoke anger in her which always prompts her to deny without mercy. Keep a smiling face and raise your pitch when responding to her query. Use gestures too. All these played out to my favour. Above all, I realized she appreciates good command of English Language. But really, how can you claim to be a graduate and unable to make a sentence that's error-free? Let's polish our vocab.

Me: Good morning lady (with smiles)
Co: Thank you
Me: You're welcome.
Co: Do you swear to tell the truth?
Me: (Still smiling) Absolutely. I do.
Co: Put your fingers on the machine. I want to capture your prints.
Me: Ok maam.....
She takes my prints .....
Co: Thank you
Me: You're welcome.
Co: What's your highest Qualification?
Me: LLB, BL.
Co: Which aspect of law are you specialized in?
Me: Bla bla bla.
Co: Tell me all you know about a valid contract and what makes a contract enforceable?
Me: I lectured her with decided cases and statutory provisions
Co: Tell me the aspect of law you find difficult.
Me: I told her.
To my surprise she began to lecture me on it. I chip in facts from time to time to buttress her points.
Co: Have your original documents
Me: Thank you maam! (With a broad smile)
Co: I am going to issue you a visa.

There were two sheets before her. One was for denial and the other for approval. She pulled the paper, circled an address and asked me to pick my visa on Friday next week. I enjoyed my time with her. I am sure she enjoyed my company. She's such a lovely Angel to chit-chat with.
Gentiger.i say a big congratulation.it so nice to see you having your Visa.Pray for we that are still expecting our INTERVIEW
