SodaWings1900:
Warm greetings to everyone in this very enlightening thread. I'm new to NL, also in the waiting line for EB2 interview in Lagos and I just came across this and read through all 38 pages...phew! Many, many thanks to the creator @NotsonewMary and to everyone else for your contributions and sharing all of your journeys. To all reading this, I just want you to know that your submissions here, no matter how small it may seem to you, might be the very piece of information that completely changes someone's life (or even an entire family) out there. So kudos again guys, may God reward everyone richly!!

Specifically, I'm E22 category. My husband already got his EB2 green card and last year we did the follow-to-join process for mine. Since it's follow to join, I was able to retain the same PD as his own, which is Jan. 2019. I just got DQ this March 2024 and now waiting for IL. I wonder if my PD of 2019 will mean anything in how quickly I can expect my IL but with what I've read here so far I'm so worried the wait might be long cry

If anyone has any helpful info, it will be much appreciated. In the meantime, I'm following along here and wishing everyone great success this year!
Congratulations to your husband on his green card approval. Lagos embassy sent interview letter (IL) for EB visa for the remaining 2022 DQs on Sept 1, 2023, but the interviews were later conducted in Jan 2024, after 2 postponements. That said, I think you should get IL when they send the next batch. Nobody knows when that will be but we all are optimistic it will drop sooner or later.
Best wishes.

Guess you mean Nov 14, 2023. Well, just to give an estimate...don't hold me by my words, only NVC knows better.
By next VB (April 2024), it should move up to 3 months - Feb 21, 2023 (new quarter, as it looks like NVC allows more movement of the dates quaterly). Then a week movement each for May to June 2024 VB (let assume a month movement, which takes the date to March 21, 2023. Then July 2024 VB, we anticipate 3 months movement again, which can take the date to June 2023....then the trend continues
Movement in April 2024 VB was close to 2 months. Not bad.

It will do you more good to use someone who lives in the US. I applied from Nigeria without a lawyer, though I got RFE, but I got approved. I have been waiting for IL for over 6 months now since my DQ.
Congratulations on your approval and DQ. When is your DQ?. People from Jan 2023 DQ are all awaiting IL.

Hello guys, I am in the third year of my PHD...

Would it be necessary to also add the evaluated copy of my PhD transcript? Cos It seems as though uncompleted programs could be evaluated on the IEE portal

Should i just send only my masters documents to uscis?

Hi
Sorry for the late reply. I think your question have been answered. Just include as many evidence as possible which could be transcript, manuscripts ( published and under review), poster presentations, conferences attended, as many reference letters as possible.
Best wishes.

Hello everyone, I have done WES evaluation but I have not received the report yet. Is it possible to include unofficial WES evaluation report, which I downloaded from my dashboard, along with my EB2 NIW petition? I chose standard delivery method while applying for the credential evaluation.

Pls can someone help me with the link for any telegram group for EB categories?

Well done with doing the evaluation. Standard delivery will mess you up if your delivery address isn't a US address and it may never arrive (mine did not arrive till date, since June 2022).
I suggest you re-order the report using a US address and Standard delivery or pay the courier fees, which is of course higher and deliver outside the US with ease.
Best wishes.

The interview went well, I received the visa approval. I got to the Lagos consulate 30mins before the interview time. The CGI folks checked my appointment letter to ensure that I was scheduled for the day. Once confirmed, I was allowed in and told to arrange my documents in the order described in the interview invitation mail.

When I got into the visa hall. I was initially called for document verification at a window. All of my original documents were collected including my original school certificates. These were compared with the information that I submitted to NVC which had been mailed to them.

Once done, I was told to sit and wait till my number was called. There was no particular order to the way that applicants were called for the interview with the consular officers. After an hour, I was called by one of the officers.Below are some of the questions he asked:

Have you ever lived in any other country for more than 6 months?
Are you currently employed and where do you work?
How many years of experience do you have?
Where are you going to in the US and what are you going to do there?
Do you have any professional certifications along with your academic credentials?
Have you ever changed your name?
Do you have other dependents that aren't applying with you?

Once he was done with his notes, he mentioned that I had been approved and he gave me a white slip. He held on to my passport, but returned all my original documents that I had submitted during the initial screening.

The main takeaway is that even though the consular officer is not readjudicating the petition, they're validating the legitimacy of the application from an immigration perspective.

Most importantly, ensure that you're consistent in all of the information provided, as I saw a lot of people get entangled by providing inconsistent or incomplete information to the consular which led to the dreaded 221g refusal.

Wishing you all the best in your journey.

Congratulations on your visa approval and thanks for the detailed update.
Best wishes moving forward.

Yes, I believe EB categories get a straight 10-year GC, and one can apply for citizenship after 5years or you can choose to keep renewing the GC if not interested in citizenship.

Thanks!, 10year Greencard in hand already, Iā€™m still soaking it all in lol, havenā€™t even had a real celebration per se haha.

@Assisting applicants for a fee; This is a request that I receive time and time again from willing applicants and I might consider sometime in the very near future. However, Iā€™ll say No, AT THIS TIME.
I just think Iā€™ll need to put more ā€œlegalā€ structures in place, especially if Iā€™ll consider going public with a venture like that.šŸ™‚

P.S; No be say I no like money oh, cos I see people cashing out big time on this, and they donā€™t even understand the rudiments of the whole process that well sef, fingers crossed shašŸ¤žšŸ½šŸ˜€, I guess Iā€™m just not ready right now.
Glad your card arrived. Was wondering why 10 years when your category is not IR1. Does EB categories get 10 years GC now?

Regarding rendering petition filing services, I understand you might not be ready for that now which is fine. Hopefully, when you do in the future, you will make it public.
Best wishes.

Hi, I completed the whole process myself, didnā€™t use a lawyer.

And yes, an approval is very much possible without recommendation letter(s).
I think it depends on the applicantā€™s profile. Some applicants already have a really superb professional profile and very weighty proposed endeavor, that even without recommendation letters they are good to go.

My opinion; If an applicant thinks or believes that getting recommendation letters adds value to their application, then by all means go for it!
Congratulations once again on your I-485 approval, and hope your physical green card has arrived.
Are you available to assist or help prospective applicants draft a petition for a fee? I think it isnt a bad thing to consider if you have the time.

Can you port to Eb1 from Eb2 while you are already waiting for interview?
I think you can port PD, not categories. You still have to submit petition for the category you want. For instance, if you already have an approved EB2-NIW with Dec 2022 PD, you can file petition for EB1 in Dec 2023, get approved and port PD to Dec 2022. Of course, this porting favors people from China and India mostly as they have a very long wait time to be current.

My PD August 2022

Those that got the last batch of IL (sent Sept 1, 2023) are yet to have their interview as the date have been changed several times. Their new date is this month. Hopefully, that batch is attended to this month, then we can expect the release of IL.

Hi, thank you!

No, it is not. However, it is recommended and has become the ā€˜normā€™ for a lot of applicants. I submitted a CV and/or documented professional profile for all of my recommenders along with the letters.

Some of your recommenders e.g well published professors, might already have their CV online (as was the case for one of mine). Alternatively, you can download and print out a copy of their LinkedIn profiles.

Essentially, the CV going with the letters just helps the reviewing officer to see the accomplishments of your recommender to show their expertise in your field and how they are well-positioned to recommend you.

P.S;Ideally, the first paragraph of your recommendation letter should be a brief intro of your recommenderā€™s professional profile.

Hope this is helpful.šŸ¤—

Did you file yourself or used a lawyer? If yes, which did you use. Some of us did not have to submit a recommendation letter to get an approved petition though...and of course, we use a lawyer (Ellis Porter).

In other related news, the big eagle landed this week!šŸŽ‰. I received approval notification for my I-485 (Greencard application).
Fun Fact: I-485 approval came exactly a year after I-140 approval. So, yes! another even greater Christmas gift in 2023.ā¤ļø

Thanks to everyone that has contributed to this thread that I started just to create awareness while I was waiting on USCIS decision for my application. I remain committed to creating awareness to people about this legal immigration pathway.

IF I do decide to, I might start a YouTube channel or Instagram page to create more content about EB Greencards (been on my mind for a while now), but fingers crossed.

Anyways, this phase is done and I am deeply grateful to God for it. We go again for the bigger eagle (citizenship application) in 5 years, God willingšŸ™šŸ½.

This is goodnews and congratulations to you. What a timely Christmas gift indeed.

CR1/IR1 categories in Lagos has been receiving steady IL. They even sent out IL to them today, even though today is Thanksgiving holiday in the US. Even the EB categories they sent IL since Sept 1, they are yet to have the interview.

Is this an intentional way of slowing down the EB visa processes. Guess they will send next batch of EB IL after those with ID have had their interviews. Till then, we just keep speculating while we keep our minds distracted with other things.

Wishing everyone on this journey godspeed.
