Politics / Re: In Defence Of Ibori: The Maximum Force Is Uncalled For! by afemai: 7:21pm On May 19, 2010 |
I disagree with the topic though but agree that going after Ibori now is political and not a genuine anti corruption drive. This is how its done in our clime and its unfortunate, when the political table turnsround it might be any other person's turn. We are waiting!! |

I dont care where he comes from, we need not hassle ourselves over such petty issues; all I know is that most of the nominees, the nominator and screening assembly members are no solutions to our survival as a nation. We need to have a proper and genuine electoral reforms to have the deserved change where peoples vote will count not the concotion emanating from the national assembly. We need to work towards having a less attractive political system hence the craze to recoup and over recoup while in office will be a thing of the past. |

GOLD DIGGERS: Every woman is a Gold digger. We just use different tools, some use cranes, some tractors, others straws and the rest, spoons Deep Soul thank you for the quote. Even when they have fat bank accounts more than the man in some instances, they keep demanding for more hence the guy will wait for them to ask believing he has given enough the last time, that would last a while. women and money are inseparable!!! This attitude is rather rampant more in Africa than in Europe or the US. |

Politics / Re: Qaddafi Is A Mad Man - Sen. David Mark by afemai: 9:57am On Mar 18, 2010 |
Though they are rogues themselves, i.e National Assembly legislators and played major roles in Nigeria's present malaise leading to Gadaffi's unsolicited advise. We expect decorum from them and be mindful of what they say in their official capacity, there are more Nigerians in Libya than are Libyans here, the implications can be damaging to Nigerians there. The Americans told us we are heading towards a failed state, where was David Mark then? If David mad has relations in Libya I bet he wont misfire as he did, without decorum and with gusto conceitedness. |
Politics / Re: Double Trouble - Ibori Faces New Investigation On Corruption by afemai: 5:29pm On Mar 15, 2010 |
joshO: I dnt have a flair a bit for Farida, Comparing her with Ribadu is off beam. Obj portrayed to the wrld he was fighting corruption and used Ribadu to hack corrupt enemies (Ibori inclusive). For a man who disobeyed court orders and undermined our constitution can never be a gold standard for an anti corruption institution. one day Ibori and other economy plungers will give account of our stolen commonwealth |
Politics / Re: Festus Odimegwu’s Wife Kidnapped by afemai: 5:09pm On Mar 15, 2010 |
This is sad, the targets are not exact as one might see fit and proper, what can my expectations be? the happenings in our society is a reflection of bad governanace, what diference is an armed robber and a kidnapper? my take is fix the society and such vices will be reduced drastically.Odimegwu supported Obasanjo's failed third term project with money and vigour, maybe this is the time to throw some cash around to yet another infamous project. while I condole the driver's family. |

Politics / Those Ibo Traders Are Cheats by afemai: 5:44pm On Feb 24, 2010 |
The Igbo man’s lost to the civil war with the state was colossal both in human and capital resources, as a result of the war he is today more ingenious, hardworking and enterprising in trading than any of the major tribes in Nigeria. The only problem I have with them is their quest for money at all cost (some will say all tribes like money, yes! but the Igbo man traders ‘quest is annoying). You and I even fellow Ibos would have fallen victim to their desire and thirst to make money by all means legally or illegally. The Igbo man will sell a fake product in the place of genuine, will ask you to buy a shirt that doesn’t fit and advise you to wear a jacket to cover it, he will draw tape when measuring yards of cloth, once your money gets to his hand you will have to apply all means to persuade to have your money back whenever your transaction turns bad, hence you are faced with a diseconomy. Deceit is the only tool of trading. Majority of the Igbo traders lack courtesy, they would pull and drag you to buy from them this can be very irritating and annoying, by so doing harass female shoppers and steal from them as practiced in Tejuosho, Oshodi and the Lagos Island markets. My childhood best friend is Igbo and he lost that appellation when he attempted to cheat me in a business I owed 100% his involvement was to help me feel secured since I was dealing with his kinsmen but he betrayed the trust the rest is history. Please you can crucify me if you like; I wish the civil war succeeded so we would not be faced with these cheats. |

Politics / Re: Is Fmr. Pres. Obasanjo Really Bad? by afemai: 5:54pm On Feb 19, 2010 |
The question by the poster: Is Former President Obasanjo Really Bad? The word “really “ Confirms that Obasanjo is bad but to what degree, extent, he seeks to find a grade of how bad he was? His quest for answers to this question is borne out of the fact that he has been hearing or reading from generality of Nigerians and probably non Nigerians that Obasanjo wasted eight years of our nation existence. What respondents need to do now is to help the poster answer the question without going off on a tangent. And without resorting to abuses and insults. To the question I say YES he is really bad. Why, because he, as earlier been compared with Hitler was ruthless with his own people as against Hitler‘s. His policies were nice on paper and you could actually see the growth indices but not in practical or physical appraisals, poverty was still alarming, the health, education, infrastructure, security, and power sectors went down drastically and corruption was rife am not comparing his government with any other because the poster’s question do not seek to put him side by side any past thieve. He conducted a hoax election and imposed his choice on us, yes people would say he had a good foreign policy I agree, that’s why he single handedly sold Bakassi to Cameroun (he practiced that policy because he wanted to be UN Sec. General). I can go on and on but these reasons above should suffice. |
Politics / Re: Change Has Come To Nigeria - Nuhu Ribadu by afemai: 5:31pm On Feb 17, 2010 |
@ Poster You definitely would/should have a stand on any topic as I do concerning Ribadu. You should allow people ventilation to express their opinions and not just wish them away. He was the police lawyer in 2000(before being made EFCC chairman in 2003)who was prosecuting Julius Makanjuola former Perm Sec Min. of defence and (OBJ'S cousin) on corruption charges involving 400 million naira, the outcome of the case is moribund till date he was ‘arm twisted’ of course by his boss to continue same thereafter . He undermined the constitution several times by removing governors with less than the prescribed 2/3 majority of the house as required by law. He said 31 governors were corrupt will prosecute them after imunuity clause was removed only 5 anti third term governors were eventually taken to court. Ribadu was a witch-hunting tool in the hand of Obj who was only interested in Obj’s enemies (I will repeat regardless of how anyone feels) who pilfer our resources for self gain, Ribadu for sure was feared by all, he had too much power and exerted too much authority that he thought it was ‘game’ as usual after his master OBJ left office (as exhibited in his insubordination that led to his dismissal) but Yar Adua came with his ‘due process’. My grudge with him is that he was not thorough but biased and selective hence made nonsense of any efforts he made to tackle corruption. He is definitely on the wrong side of History because he lacked the moral quality a true corruption crusader exhibits!!! I would have respected him if he came out to confess that his boss was hindering his work, but he chooses to remain and do the dirty work for OBJ. Now he is a fugitive. |

rebranded: Please don’t insult our psyche with your post. Are those items above the yardstick for development both in infrastructure and human development? Where did he leave our Education, Health, Power, Agriculture, and Purchasing power? Obasanjo had all going for him, enough funds from sale of crude which was at its peak. Enough savings from debt servicing, funds from sales of government properties, corporations and interests, sales of GSM licenses. Willing foreign investors due to democratization of the country. What did he do with this entire colossal fund? Fight against corruption was started - EFCC!! He started by setting up ICPC and EFCC using the later as a political tool to witch-hunt perceived political opponents he couldn’t use the ICPC because the organ is headed by respected jurists whereas EFCC the understandable corrupt Nigerian police. He promised to provide electricity like his boy umoru did and corruptly engaged stooges to prosecute it where the project land us? With immunity (to cover OBJ) being enjoyed by Imoke his erstwhile power minister now governor cross rivers state we can never get to the bottom of what really went wrong in that power project. There was insecurity of lives in the Niger delta region he couldn’t do anything until the amnesty programme of his boy. unresolved Political assassination was rife in his government more within his party which he hijacked in furtherance of his do or die affair style. The banking sector was revived!! The banking sector was revived indeed!! With Sanusi tsunami in the banking industry we now know what Obj’s Soludu stood for as CBN governor doing a lot of corrupt cosmetic cover-ups for the banking sector which you now term revival. Economic growth was seen (middle class created again) How can you talk of economic growth that does not translate to an improved well being of the citizenry? Have you forgotten that the world bank catchy slogan on Nigerians living below the one dollar mark started with obj’s shattered years as president? People in Diasporas are considering coming home if he fixed country provide power, security, infrastructure needed for development, proper fiscal policies, he didn’t provide them hence where are the diasporas? Obj was not one of the best presidents and will never be except you meant he was the worst Nigeria ever had. See what the late legal luminary and human right activist Gani Fawehinmi had on him ‘’ His library which he launched on May 14, 2005 at Abeokuta garnered N8.5 billion. [Femi] Otedola gave N250 million; [Otunba Mike] Adenuga N350 million; [Aliko] Dangote, N220 million; consortium of banks N1.9 billion; consortium of oil companies N2.4 billion and so on. These oil companies we talk about, for eight years Obasanjo was the Minister of Petroleum Resources apart from being the head of state. No oil block was ever given to anybody without the connivance and approval of General Olusegun Obasanjo. He was more active as an oil minister than Mr. President. This regime will go down in history as the most corrupt regime in the history of this country in the sense that no regime ever made so much money as was made under Obasanjo’s regime. It got to a point that the price of one barrel of crude oil was fetching $70 and Nigeria at that time was producing 3,150,000 (three million, one hundred and fifty thousand) barrels per day. As we talk, the Federal Government is making more than N200,000,000 (two hundred million dollars) everyday, including Sunday. The more money the Obasanjo regime made the poorer the Nigerian people became. And the more money the Obasanjo regime made, the richer a few people became, including Mr. President himself. |
