The state Police Command on Friday smashed a gang what have been terrorizing Igbogene-Yenagoa and its environs arresting six members of a notorious robbery gang, including a female with arms and ammunition recovered from them.



The suspects are Sunday Alo, 22; Henry Goddy, 25; Justice John Ukpaka, 23; Choima Blessing 22; Favour Ojum 20; and a female, Justina Odua, 23.



Asinim Butswat, spokesman to command said in Yenagoa that the arrest was made possible through a tip- off by members of the public.



“On 4th May, 2018 at about 0400hrs, in a coordinated operation, the tactical commanders and operatives from Igbogene Police Division, led by the Divisional Police Officer, raided the hideout of the criminal gang at Igbogene. Upon a thorough search of the house, the Police recovered the following arms and ammunition; one automatic pump action single barrel gun, with breech No. 20211, one Brownie pistol, breech No. BD 391579. Others include 10 unexpended cartridges, two 6.2mm ammunition, one locally made revolver pistol, two LG Laptops, one new car headlight, one new car side mirror, assorted weapons and hair dressing items, two Wristwatches, some Charms. Also recovered are, one First Bank ATM Card, 22 different SIM cards and eight mobile phones,” the Police stated.

Butswat recalled that on April 21 at about 9.30 pm, gunmen intercepted a vehicle with REG No. SAG 20 AT, at Glory Land Drive, Igbogene, robbed its occupants and kidnapped the bus driver. The bus was later abandoned by the robbers and the kidnapped victim was released on April 26, 2018.



Butswat assured that the Command will intensify its raids on criminal hideout to ensure a safer Bayelsa for residents and investors alike.

Following hours of police laying seige outside his Abuja home, embattled Senator Dino Melaye has announced plans to surrender himself to the police later today. He made his plans known in a post he shared on his Facebook page this morning.

''I will make myself available to the police today. My resolve to speak the truth and defend the poor masses of NIGERIA is Total. We shall overcome!!!'' he wrote

Dino was stopped from traveling out of the country yesterday. He was on his way to Morocco for an official assignment when he was withheld by the police and Immigration officers.



He was later released and allowed to go home. Hours later, the police stormed his home and laid seige around it. Dino says there are plans to kill him for speaking the truth to government.

Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, has congratulated an indigene of the state, Miracle Igbokwe, for winning Bg Brother Naija 2018 edition. In a congratulatory message contained in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sam Onwuemeodo, Governor Okorocha described Miracle as a good ambassador of the state.

Yesterday i shared the story of a 50 year old man identified as Taiwo Oyelabi, who impregnated his 21 year old daughter at their home in Community Road, Badore, Iba in Lagos state.


Police investigations have revealed that Oyelabi, a private security guard, started having sex with his own daughter in November 2017.


He and the mother of the victim have separated and he was left with caring for her and her other siblings. The suspect drew the attention of his neighbor when he started to take the victim to his workplace everyday.

Speaking in an interview with newsmen while he was paraded at the state police command yesterday, Oyelabi blamed his daughter for luring him to commit the abomination. According to him, his daughter raped him.



''This is not ordinary. It is the work of the devil. But my daughter is also to blame because she raped me. She started by kissing me. The first time she did it, I was sleeping. I woke up and beat her and told her to stop it. I even took her to a white garment church for deliverance, where I was told to bring some things with which to prepare some spiritual bath for her to stop the act. I even went ahead to engage her in a nylon-making factory, yet she continued.

We did it five times. By the time she realised she was pregnant, she was over three months gone and there was nothing we could do about it. Besides, I am not the only one she has slept with. She also has a boyfriend. I believe her boyfriend is responsible for the pregnancy.

When I discovered she was pregnant, I tried to kill myself three times, but people stopped me. The first time, I tried to drink insecticide, but a neighbor stopped me. I later jumped into a well, but I was rescued alive. I wanted to take my life because this is not real. It was my landlord that reported me to the Police because I owe him” he said

American rapper, Kendrick Lamar has broken the records by winning the Pulitzer Prize for Music for his album, DAMN making him the first rapper and the first non-classical or jazz artist to receive the honour.



The Pulitzer board announced Lamar’s selection on Monday, calling the 2017 LP “a virtuosic song collection unified by its vernacular authenticity and rhythmic dynamism that offers affecting vignettes capturing the complexity of modern African American life.”



DAMN. is Lamar’s fourth studio album, the latest in a series of acclaimed and sonically eclectic records. The LP, which has reached double-platinum sales status, was nominated for Album of the Year and won Best Rap Album at this year’s Grammy awards ceremony.

The Minister said the right thinking Nigerians have revealed to him that they now spend less amount of money to power their alternative source of electricity and enjoy a good quantity from the National grid. The Lagos State government has unfolded plans to occupy social media with increased content on governments’ policies and programmes through its well-positioned social media platforms by engaging the online audience in advocacy and public enlightenment.



The State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Kehinde Bamigbetan, who stated this on Monday while kick-starting the annual Ministerial Press Briefing of the State government held at Bagauda Kaltho Press Centre, Alausa, also said that with increased uploading of content on its social media, followership is expected to rise to two million by the end of this year.



The Commissioner announced the general increase in followership on all government social media platforms, attributing the increase to improved uploading of content in terms of short videos, infographics, Facebook and Instagram live videos. According to him, the LASG Facebook account now has over 296,000 followers, making an increment of 14% from the initial 259,147 followers as at April 2017; the total number of posts on the Instagram platform is now 2,127 with a total of 16,500 followers resulting in over 1,000% increment from the initial 857 Followers as at same period last year while the twitter account now has over 173,264 followers resulting in 47% increment from the initial 117,782 followers as at April 2017.



Bamigbetan further disclosed that several reforms are going on to reposition the State-owned media houses to make them rank among equals.  The Commissioner told journalists that the Ambode administration has intervened strategically by fast-tracking the acquisition of the state-of-the-art equipment for Lagos Television, Radio Lagos and Eko FM to enable the stations to compete favourably in the industry and boost revenue generation.  He said: “Considering the need to propagate the perspective and activities of the State government for public enlightenment and patronage of citizens, LTV, which historically is the first State television station in Nigeria, has received tremendous public expenditure to be more competitive and efficient.”



He reiterated that a new digital studio and new transmitters to improve the signal strength, quality and outreach were among equipment installed at the Lagos State Radio Service while the guest rooms, corridors, reception area and the entire ground floor were renovated as part of on-going efforts to make the work atmosphere more conducive and comfortable.      Bamigbetan further disclosed that Lagos State Printing Corporation (LSPC) is currently in a new phase of development following the installation of the newly purchased digital machine, adding that the Ambode administration is determined to ensure that the Corporation does not return to the unprofitable era.



In his words, “A final decision on the structure management for the Corporation as recommended by a project management audit and reviewed by a three-man Committee comprising the Commissioners of Information & Strategy, Finance and Establishment, Training and Pensions to ensure the emergence of a competitive, profitable and efficiently run printing business will be taken in due course”.



Following the recommendation, the Commissioner said the Corporation has been directed to set up a vibrant marketing unit to compete with the private sector for jobs while the Governor has issued a directive asking all MDAs to patronize the Corporation, particularly for large orders.



The Commissioner pledged that the Ministry will continue to keep the populace informed by generating  and deploying persuasive content to explain the inherent values of government policies across the various channels of communication, while also monitoring feedback that could guide re-packaging of governments' policies and programmes in order to be constantly in tune with the temperament and expectations of the various publics.

World footbal governing body, FIFA says almost 1.7 million tickets have been sold for the World Cup in Russia after some 400,000 were snapped up in the latest sales stage which ended yesrterday.



FIFA said that 394,433 tickets were sold during a first-come, first-served window since March 13. Russians dominated by buying 216,134 of them, followed by fans from the not qualified U.S. (16,462), Argentina (15,006), Colombia (14,755) and Mexico (14,372).



In all, 1,698,049 tickets have now been sold for the June 14 to July 15 tournament in 11 Russian cities, FIFA said, naming overall international demand at 53 per cent. A final sales phase starts April 18, also first come, first-served.

Two slave owners in Mauritania have been jailed in a country where slavery remains widespread but convictions rare. The sentences of 10 and 20 years are said to be the toughest-ever for the crime in the West African country.



Slavery was outlawed in 1981 but 1% of the population are still living in bondage, human rights groups say. Black people of certain ethnic groups are often enslaved as domestic workers by lighter-skinned Mauritanians. The country has jailed more anti-slavery activists than slave owners, rights groups say.



The court in the north-western town of Nouadhibou gave a 20-year prison sentence to Hamoudi Ould Saleck. His father - who died before the trial ended - received the same sentence posthumously.



Both were accused of "reducing to slavery" a family, two of whom were children. A woman, Revea Mint Mohamed, was jailed for 10 years for keeping three slaves one of whom was a 29-year-old who had been kept since she was a small girl. Both cases had been brought by former slaves.


Mauritania criminalised slavery in 2015. In past cases, slave-owners were sentenced to two to five years. Rights group Amnesty International welcomed the convictions. It estimates that 43,000 people were still living in slavery in Mauritania. It said that the courts had received 47 cases for investigation involving 53 suspects.


However prominent Mauritanian anti-slavery activist Biram Ould Dah Abeid cast doubt on the reports that Hamoudi Ould Saleck had actually been arrested, and called the case "a show trial by the government to stop criticism from the international community".

The Oyo State Police Command have recovered a total of 178 guns and 840 rounds of ammunition in circulation in the state.

Briefing newsmen at the Command Headquarters, Eleyele, Ibadan on Thursday, the Commissioner of Police, CP Abiodun Odude said pump-action guns, imported pistols, single-barrelled guns, AK-47 guns and locally-made single-barrelled guns were among the recovered firearms.

"Among the recovered arms are 27 pump- action guns, 65 locally- made single-barrelled guns , 34 cut-to - size guns, 21 imported pistols , six AK-47 rifles, two Sterling sub -machine guns , three Berretta rifles , 504 cartridges and other ammunition. In all, we have recovered 178 guns and 840 rounds of ammunition." said Odude.

The police boss said the command would soon begin house - to- house search for prohibited firearms.

A member of the House of Representatives, Umar Baba Jibril, has died. Aged 58 years, Jibril, a three time member of the house, died after a brief illness in Abuja.

He was until his death, the Deputy Majority Leader of the house. He was also a former speaker of the Kogi state house of assembly.

He represented Lokoja/Kogi Federal constituency in the House of Representatives.

Jibril sponsored the controversial non-governmental organisation regulatory commission bill.

BBN housemate, Khloe, who recently returned after her initial disqualification has revealed the shocking discovery she made in the Big Brother house.

During a discussion with Rico Swavey and Cee-C, Khloe claims she has seen six used condoms since she returned to the reality show.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), yesterday told Justice Mohammed Idris of a Federal High Court in Lagos that the sums of N2.4 billion and $115,000 have been recovered from a former Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshall Adesola Amosu (rtd.)


Also, the anti-graft commission recovered N383 million from Amosu’s wife, Omolara.

EFCC made the disclosure while testifying in the on-going trial of Amosu and 10 others over alleged N22.8 billion fraud. The former Chief of Air Staff was, on June 29, 2016, arraigned by the anti-graft agency alongside Air Vice Marshal Jacob Bola Adigun, Air Commodore Gbadebo Owodunni Olugbenga and eight companies over the alleged offence.


The companies are: Delfina Oil and Gas Ltd., Mcallan Oil and Gas Ltd., Hebron Housing and Properties Company Ltd., Trapezites BDC, Fonds and Pricey Ltd., Deegee Oil and Gas Ltd., Timsegg Investment Ltd. and Solomon Health Care. In his testimony before the court, Owobo said the commission has successfully recovered part of the money allegedly stolen by the defendants.


The witness added that cars and landed property were equally seized from the defendants. He said: “About N100 million was recovered from the third defendant, Air Commodore Gbadebo. Funds were also left over in St Solomon’s bank account, recovered through the first defendant’s wife. “About N383 million was recovered through the first defendant’s wife. The first defendant (Amosu) also refunded two bank drafts of N2.4 billion in our Lagos and Abuja offices. We also recovered $115,000 in one of the first defendant’s residences. Various landed property and buildings were recovered from the second defendant.”


Owobo listed the recovered vehicles to include a bulletproof Lexus LX 570, a bulletproof Land Cruiser Sports Utility Vehicle and a Toyota Avalon. Further hearing in the matter has been adjourned to April 18. The commission had, at the last hearing of the matter, told the court that it is yet to reach any plea bargain agreement with the defendants. EFCC’s lawyer, Rotimi Oyedepo, told the judge that no “concrete” agreement had been reached. “We’ve not reached any concrete agreement that is acceptable to the complainant. We’re here with our witness and we’re ready to go on with trial,” he said.


Some of the counts against the accused persons read as thus: “That you, Air Marshal Adesola Amosu Nunayon (Rtd), Air Vice Marshal Jacob Bola Adigun, Air Commodore Gbadebo Owodunni Olugbenga, Delfina Oil and Gas Ltd, Mcallan Oil and Gas Ltd., Hebron Housing and Properties Company Ltd., Trapezites Bdc, Fonds and Pricey Ltd., Deegee Oil and Gas Ltd., Timsegg Investment Ltd. and Solomon Health Care Ltd., on or about the 5th day of March, 2014 in Lagos, within the jurisdiction of this honourable court, conspired amongst yourselves to commit an offence, to wit: Conversion of the sum of N21,467,634,707.43, property of the Nigerian Air Force, which sum was derived from stealing.

“That you, Air Marshal Adesola Amosu Nunayon (rtd), Air Vice Marshal Jacob Bola Adigun, Air Commodore Gbadebo Owodunni Olugbenga, Delfina Oil and Gas Ltd., Mcallan Oil and Gas Ltd., Hebron Housing and Properties Company Ltd., Trapezites BDC, Fonds and Pricey Ltd., Deegee Oil and Gas Ltd., Timsegg Investment Ltd. and Solomon Health Care Ltd. between the 23rd and 24th day of September, 2014 in Lagos, within the jurisdiction of this honourable court, indirectly converted the sum of N976 million, property of the Nigerian Air Force.”

Grand Rapids Drive forward, Zeke Upshaw died on Monday morning after he collapsed during the team's G League game on Saturday against the Long Island Nets at DeltaPlex Arena in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He was 26.

The Drive provided a statement from Jewel Upshaw, the Chicago native's mother saying "After continued efforts from the medical team at Spectrum Health, Zeke made his transition at 11:16 a.m. To family, friends, teammates, coaches, fans and confidants, thank you for your prayers and support during this most difficult time."

It was reported that Upshaw went into cardiac arrest on Saturday during the game. A cause of death was not immediately released.

Upshaw played three seasons at Illinois State before moving to Hofstra for his senior season. He went undrafted in 2014. His professional career included stints with the Helios Suns (Slovenia), Basket Esch (Luxembourg) and the Drive, whom he joined in 2016.

Today, the Senate will deliberate on the statement made by the former Minister of Defence, General Theophilus Danjuma (retd) on the insecurity in the country.



Danjuma, at the convocation of Taraba State University on Saturday, urged Nigerians to resort to self-defence in the face of unending killings across the country. He also accused the military of complicity in the killings, especially in Taraba, where he said that the herdsmen were being aided in killing innocent citizens.


The Senate’s decision followed a Point-of-Order raised by Sen. Yusuf Yusuf (APC-Taraba) at plenary on Tuesday. Yusuf pointed out that Danjuma raised fundamental issues that should be debated and investigated by the Senate.


But while considering Yusuf’s submission, the matter turned controversial when it was put to voice vote by the President of the Senate, Dr Bukola Saraki. There was initial confusion as to where the voting favoured, but Saraki ruled in favour of the “ayes”.


He said that the matter would be debated today!

Ibrahim Magu, the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has warned officials of the agency to shun underhand dealings that can put the commission in a bad light.



He gave the warning on Monday at the EFCC Zonal office in Enugu State, where he urged the officials to see their work as a call from God to serve humanity. “You cannot be fighting corruption and be corrupt,” Magu said in a statement by the EFCC spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren.



“You must be committed to your work and not mind the temptations because we will not spare anyone who is corrupt,” he said. The EFCC boss also advised them to always seek to learn from their superiors, saying nobody is a repository of knowledge.



Earlier before addressing staff members at the zonal office, he paid a courtesy visit to the Chief Judge of Enugu State, Justice Ngozi Emehelu. Magu noted that the EFCC remains committed to learning and being guided by judicial prefects to carry out its functions of ridding Nigeria of corruption. He said: “We are here to thank you for all your support and also solicit for more, knowing that we are not above board and will constantly need directions and guidance in the work we do.”


The EFCC boss stressed further that the judiciary was instrumental to the achievement of the anti-graft agency, adding that its support would be highly needed for continued success. He also called on Nigerians across the country to do the needful and join forces with the commission to move the nation forward positively. In her response, Justice Emehelu lauded the visit of the EFCC boss whom she described as a formidable and hardworking man. She also assured him that the judiciary was poised to support the anti-graft agency in its efforts at eradicating corruption from the country.

A 35-year-old Nigerian national was found dead inside his rented accommodation in Delhi’s Uttam Nagar on Friday morning. The deceased, Neely Emeka, had been staying in the country for the past one year.



According to reports, Mr. Emeka had come to the city in India last year on a business visa and was employed in a company later.



The deceased’s boss had been trying to reach him for the past few days but Mr. Emeka was not answering the calls. Following this, his boss came to meet Mr. Emeka at his residence and found the room to be locked from inside.

“Mr. Emeka’s boss knocked the door several times but did not get any response. After this, he peeped through a window and saw Mr. Emeko lying unconscious on the floor,” a police officer said.

A PCR call was received around 10 a.m. stating a man has been found dead in the Uttam Nagar area, the officer said adding, “A police team reached the spot and found a Nigerian national lying dead inside his flat.”

His boss also informed the police that Mr. Emeka had been ill for the past few days. It is suspected that he might have died due to illness, a police officer said.

Mr. Emeka’s family members and the Nigerian High Commission have been informed about the incident, while police authorities await the autopsy report.

One person has died and several others were injured in an accident in Onitsha, Anambra state, early this morning.

According to eyewitnesses, the accident occurred when a Mercedes v-boot tried to avoid collision with a Hilux SUV, but this caused a tipper coming from behind to ram into the Mercedes, killing the young man in the Mercedes.


The accident, which took place at the Onitsha head bridge, led to heavy traffic on the bridge connecting Delta state to Anambra state. Federal Road Safety officials responded to the scene and were seen making efforts to remove the wrecked vehicles and help ease traffic.

DJ Khaled took his baby mama shopping and he told her to buy the whole store out.

The record producer kept repeating to his partner Nicole Tuck, "Honey, buy the whole store out." He even went to the store clerk to ask how much the things his woman chose was worth and the clerk said, "$25,600"



But each time Khaled screamed at Nicole to buy the store out, she didn't seem impressed at all. The first time was when they were on the escalator, she turned and fixed him with an irritated gaze. The second time, she turned and walked away.

The third time, DJ Khaled told her in a loud voice to buy the whole store out, she chided: "Why are you so loud."


It's easy to see Nicole is such a private person and wasn't feeling the whole show off DJ Khaled was into.

When the shopping was done and they were leaving, Khaled is heard saying he works hard every day to take care of his family and give them the best but Nicole replies asking, "You know how hard I work?"

The Wisconsin father who in 2015 attempted to sell his 4-year-old daughter online for sex, has been sentenced to serve 60 years in prison.

The Harris County District Attorney’s office confirmed on Friday that Andrew Turley, 30, was sentenced in Harris County, Texas after being convicted for trafficking of a child and compelling prostitution of someone under the age of 18,



In a statement released to PEOPLE, Harris County District Attorney Kim K. Ogg said Turley was caught after an undercover Houston police officer contacted Turley about an ad the 30-year-old placed on Craiglist in 2015 titled “Play with Daddie’s [sic] Little Girl.”

Over a lengthy e-mail correspondence, which according to prosecutors amounted to almost 70 messages, Turley told the undercover police officer that a two-hour session with the girl, who was described as being “younger than 10” would cost $1,000.



In the e-mails, Turley also claimed he would give the child “sleeping meds” during the encounter, according to the statement.

Prosecutor Ann Johnson told WWLP that when officers arrived at the mother’s house where Turley’s daughter lived and discovered “a 4-year-old child who appears to be under the influence, also appeared to be unclothed under the blanket.”


The undercover arrested Turley on the scene, after two years in custody he was sentenced to 30 years in prison on each charge and is required to serve a minimum of 45 years before he is eligible for parole.
