Margy:
Hello mothers who still have their maiden names as surname in the house! How did you go about your child(ren) birth certificate. Did you use your names as is it or include hubby's surname too?

I asking to know if its going to raise eyebrows especially when one intends to travel out.

I'm a ftm! and a silent follower... although i have learnt so much following this topic

you should research the country you are going to. In England for instance, the baby is by default in hospital given the surname of the mother.... so if all your Identity documents still have your maiden name, that is what the child will be named as. when you go to officially register the birth, you would need to show some proof that you are married, otherwise the baby WILL NOT automatically get the father's name. it may not even
state the father especially of the father is not present at the time of either birth or registration of the birth. (No eyebrows raised anywhere - only in naija embassy or high commission when you want to get naija passport - however a letter from the father with his details etc will usually be ok to move things along)

so it may be useful to carry the original copy and a duplicate of your marriage certificate on hand. and perhaps copies of Passport details of the your husband. as the minimum

Also research the country you are going to give birth in as each one may have slightly different requirements.
If you say where you are headed, others who have experience of said country will chip in.

PS if you are going to the USA, bear in mind that each state will have a different criteria, so you need to know what is required for that particular state.

Good evening mamas ,
Make una come help me.

My baby has been purging for two days nonstop now. I gave her flagyl and zinc tab but its like it dint even help. I dint give her anyfin new o, she has been takin gerber single grain since and on monday i changed it to multigrain and she started purging on friday till now . What can i do biko Could it be teething?? She has stooled like 8 times today. Biko come to my aid. She will be 7months old in two weeks.

Hope she is better now.

What are the ingredients of the multi grain? she could be intolerant to one or more of the ingredients inside. i suggest you go back to the original single grain you were giving her before, then introduce any other items in the multigrain individually to identify what the culprit could be.

For instance, if you were giving rice only and the multigrain has rice, wheat, maize, oats and other orishirishi inside. Introduce each grain individually i. e only oats for a few days, then only wheat for the next few days etc etc etc, if you can find it in baby food form fine, if not you may need to prepare it yourself.

Mamas pls which butter can i add to my baby's food?

Cc AlphaHandMaiden

Personally i will say use good quality proper butter if you can, or a spreadable that is a mix of butter and a plant based natural oil. I am a bit partial to Lurpak, but you can use others like flora, Kerry gold or summer county ( at least i think that is the name). i am sure other mothers will contribute to the list.

Please avoid margarine. if that is your only option it is preferable to simply just use a bit of olive oil or sunflower oil.

Good afternoon mums and dads.

We have a giveaway ongoing on our IG page to win this bed mat.

They are primarily for toddler beds but we had so many thoughts another uses when we designed them. .

✔The reusable bed mats are the width of a single bed as shown below
.
✔You can lay them under the bed sheet or over the bed sheet. The bed mats are absorbent so they absorb any pee or liquids quickly and keep the pee contained. Unlike plastic sheets.

✔They can also be used with older children who occasionally wet the bed. .
.
✔They have a waterproof backing of course. To protect your matters. It can also be used as a changing mat for smaller babies. .
.
✔And Why is the surface black? Well we made it black so that post partum mums still bleeding heavily can use them and any draining can be discreetly hidden. So you can take them to the hospital as part of your hospital bag contents. .
.
.
✔If you are still pregnant you can use them as a bed liner in case your water breaks. .
.
.
✔It is breathable and it does not have that plastic sound that tarpolene, markintoch or even the disposable bed mats have. .
.
.

As in..... her husband seems to be given the most accolades on her own obituary ABI na eulogy.

Handsome, amiable and pragmatic man!

Abi she no fine ni Or she no get good characteristics that All you can say is your mom liked to wash clothes, mop the house and going on errands.

For the fact she even has 3 daughters, they have failed her stupendously!

Also she couldn't have been that old if she only got married in 1995, (approx. 23 yrs) assuming she was 18yrs old at the time of her wedding , she was probably only in her early 40's at the max. When she died!

I can write a better loving eulogy for my hotpoint washing machine, or my oven and those are not living things.

Bloody inexcusable!

Pls o, mamas dat make fruit puree for their babies, how do u prepare it? Do u cook d fruit b4 boiling or boil b4 cooking?

Cc HolySteph , AlphaHandMaiden , rvpbae and all mamas

The only fruit I cooked a bit was apples. I then blend after it has cooked a bit.

Every other fruit I mashed or blended as they were.

General for other purees I cook first then blend afterwards as different items take different times to cook. And also the cooking also makes the blending much easier, and you can control the texture better that way as well.

Hmm what age is your baby....this is making me unhappy already...cuz I plan on enrolling my DD in a creche in 2weeks time cuz I will be resuming work by March...I want her to get used to it before I resume....I'm so scared to leave her...thoughts just keeps running through me..like will she be well taken care of nd all...oh Lord.

cc Strongwoman333,

my daughter is 3 years and we are still on the flu, cold and cough matter.

there are many strains of the cold virus and they will likely be catching it one after the other. when my DD started nursery at about 1 year, we were on cold and flu duty for at least 6 months straight. as one is ending and you get some respite for a week or 2 another one will surface, and you as the parent are also following them to catch it as they will come and distribute it to the whole house.

But on the flip side, it does help them build their immunity to germs. They will either catch it now or they will catch it later when they start proper school.

Your role as the parent is to just help them the best you can.

Ensure hands are washed before eating,
Give them a varied and healthy diet and even introduce multivitamins to help as well
Stock up on nasal sprays drops and Eucalyptus oil ( aka silverbird) or Olbas oil and paracetamol- these should be a household essential in my opinion.
Ensure baby is properly hydrated. lots of fluids - water , warm milk/ formular or diluted orange juice depending on age.

For cough - that is the worst one, try and have a sleeping position for them that elevates there head, it may mean baby sleeping on the bouncer or elevating one set of legs of the cot or proping underneath one side of the mattress to achieve this.

Be vigilant also and go to the hospital if you suspect it may be bacterial so that antibiotics may be prescribed if needed.

If you see baby is in any way struggling to breath, (not just blocked nose oh, the type that they are using all their energy to breath with very pronounced chest moment and usually very loud -PLEASE treat this as an emergency and RUN to the hospital. they may need to be Nebulised and given steroids to reduce inflamation and swelling in the lungs.

all in all, parenthood is not a ride in the park. we just have to adapt and stay strong for our babies.

How is everyone doing by the way? grin
