Stands in line
Sways with swag
Sits in rows
Manspreader's pad
Hold that ticket
Losing it is bad
Cut through the sea
Whilst on land
...
Organized chaos
Auto and Manual
Only in Lagos
Go slow crawl
Maddeningly famous
Trads 'n' casual:
Owambe jor,
That'll be us.

This is good!

Poems For Review / You Think I Am Mad. by basille(m): 12:29am On Feb 10, 2018
How would life be like from the perspective of a Lunatic (or madmen as we call them in naija grin)?
Me and a friend deliberated and decided to write on this on one of our random evening discussions.

YOU THINK I AM MAD

I roam the streets freely
With no fears or worries

Embracing each day
With nonchalance

Dancing with childish ease
To the buzzing voice
Of the morning traffic

With blank eyes you stare

Masking your bewilderment
Spitting in disgust

As you hurry off
To chase illusions

Whilst I move like the wind
Caring not for attachments
Or never ending pursuit
Of happiness

Romancing the uncertainty
Of unknown tomorrow
Yet you think I am mad

YOU THINK I AM MAD

I roam refuses for food
Feasting on your left over
You think I am mad
With wide eyes you gaze
Upon me with derision
Masking your amusement
Often with a benign smile
Which slowly transcends to pity
The children serenade me
With songs of mockery
Whilst I dance unclad
Happiness I become
But you think I am mad

You dwell in your homes
While I lay in street corners
The night breeze lures me to sleep
We both wake at cock crow
On sunny days, you walk the streets
Clad in choking clothes
Your sunbaked faces
Trying to hide the wetness
Budding underneath your arms
I stand naked in the shade
Dangling my goods
You laugh at me
You think I am the one mad.

From the little i know, all that which is being referred to as "Juju" or "jazz", are basically science. This type of science and knowledge is not made available to the general public hence the misconceptions.

And Op mind you that Most times, gods been used in most African tradition serves as a kind of representative for complex ideas not easily understandable by an untrained mind.

Such a lengthy write-up with no proper formatting.

From the little i know, Eshu is a trickster, the god of tricks in yoruba folklore. Same as Ekwensu in igbo.

Something i find fascinating is the similarities in pronunciation of both names, and both play identical roles in each culture.

Could be mere coincidence, but i don't believe in such.
