Happy Sunday to everyone!
Please, I need help from experienced installers, users and DIYs.

I am planning to upgrade my inverter system, am looking at buying a 5KW 48V Hybrid inverter (with solar DC input of 450V minimum), I have read of so many brands, I am trying to leverage on the experience of the forum to know which brand and model is considered stable, low idle consumption, compatible with lithium battery (future plan), low failure rate and the cost is within 350 - 400K (slight increase above budget could be accommodated for value and reliability)

Experienced seniors, pls help with brand and models based on experience, these toys aren't cheap anyone, one has to choose wisely.

Thanks so much Earthrealm, I quite understand this will be very costly, is there anything I can do to reduce this cost?
Pls more comments and reviews from experienced hands on the forum is welcome and appreciated.
I remember someone was having this kind of idea for shopping mall, was this achieved may be I can learn one or two things from the project?

earthrealm:

your total load is about 15kw and you hope to run it for 12hrs, a 15kwh lithium bank is about 1,5m naira and would power this your humongous load for approximately 1hr only......thus you would need 13 to 15 pieces to power your load for 12hours, so that's 25m naira alone on battery. the solar panels required to recharge this humongous load is about 70kw of solar panels will cover 2 plots of land, ie 200ft x 100ft area space.

350w panel is about 80k, you would be needing minimum of 200 pieces, wch is another 16m naira on panels...assuming you have the space to install them, as each panel is about 6ft x 3ft, ie 20sqft approximately

edit: you would need about 8000 sqft of space to install the panels, so you need a 100ft x 100ft plot of land == 1 plot of land.

if all this cost is still within your budget...say Aiii, grin.
WITH THE DAY AND NIGHT LOAD DISTRIBUTION, YOU CAN juggle and see if having excess panels would be cheaper than installing the recommended battery capacity.

solar is not cheap in the short-term..its only longterm that solar gets cheap..you usually break even as from 2yrs for most setups

Good Day Nairaland,

I am trying to go solar based on the current reality around the Diesel cost to run my shop. Please help with the calculation of what is required for the following equipment, these are 3phae equipment except the lighting and the fans.

1. Lighting - 800W (12hrs, more at night)
2. Fans - 500W (18hrs)
3. Chiller - 2000W (12hrs)
4. Mixer - 6500W (12hrs)
5. Divider - 2000W (12hrs)
6. Moulder - 2500W (12hrs)
7. Oven - 3500W (12hrs)
8. Slicer - 650W (12hrs)
9. Computers - 150W

Please, note that the 12hrs is estimated to be 6hrs - day and 6hrs Night time.
I do know the initial cost may be high but I might be able to get finance for it.

Good morning House.
Please my Microtek Inverter just packed up, failed to produce voltage once it goes into UPS mode, I don't intend to repair it as it has been a problem since it was procured.

Can anyone assist to name a very good reliable inverter with adjustable charging parameters from experience that I can procure, am looking at between 1.5KVA - 3.5KVA, 24V inverter (hybrid or transformer or transformer less). Though will prefer in the region of 3 - 3.5KVA hybrid more for future expansion with good value for money .

Thanks for your help.

@spartacus11
Thanks for elaborate explanation and encouragement to go for LiFeP04. Can you kindly give examples for your point number 4 below?
Appreciate more views from users

1- very reliable

2- the failure rate is very unlikely, yeah even if any cell pack is bad u can replace it but most times all there need is for u to balance ur battery pack

3- there are user experience here but u can check some of my past posts as at last week to see some YouTube reviews

4- there are premium brands as well as brands that are not too know but stlll value for money

5- Buy lifepo4 , and have rest of mind without babysitting you battery bank, no worries of not having a full charge everyday, have more juices to use.

Go for Lifepo4 please, More value for money

Please RE House,;
Good morning!
I am trying to upgrade my solar installation and I need advise from experienced members, installers and seller in house.
I currently has 4 X 200Ah AGM battery, which have served very well, I am undecided on either going for 8 X 200Ah or I should port to Lithium Battery (LiFePO4)
I know LiFePO4 is better in performance, you can derive more juice from it compare to AGM, I know all that stuff.
But more on value for money,
1. Is these LiFePO4 reliable
2. What's the failure rate like, in AGM battery bank you can replace a failed single unit (though not advised)
3. What's user experience, any user experience?
4. What are good model / manufacturer to consider for value for money
5. What do you advise; buy the AGM or buy the LiFeP04

Thanks
