I think you need updating your vocabulary. English is vernacular to, for example, Bill Clinton. Vernacular is your local language, mother tongue, for your information.

papas: Countries where a new born child in, 2013, have a better chance of leading a decent life than one born in Nigeria include the likes of Sri Lanka, Ecuador, India, Morocco, Vietnam, Azerbaijan, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Angola, Bangladesh, Kenya.

Needless "information!" You have already said Nigeria is the worst place to be born in 2013. This shows how silly this gibberish is! Childish propaganda!

Nairaland / General / Have You Ever Gotten Lost As A Kid Or Even As An Adult? by charlsecy4(m): 8:29am On Nov 19, 2012
I could remember I was still a kid; we had gone to village for Easter holidays when I got lost.

I was playing and running about. Then I wanted to get back, I didn't know the road which I had taken. I got to a point where I saw two roads I didn't know which of the roads to take. I took the wrong one.

I kept on moving, but never got to the road which I knew would lead me to our house. I had to ask around, and someone re-directed me.

***

Anyone can get lost, as a kid or as an adult, especially if you have moved to an unfamiliar town or place. Let's have your story on how you got lost, and how you got retrieved or managed to find your way.

I think it's the Catholic Church that complied the first Bible! If not for the Catholic Church, 95% of the world would have been Muslim.

Kamxin: Only the copyright owner has a righ to interpret.(catholic church).

I don't know that for sure!

k2039:
So how does compilation have anything to do with interpretation, after all they were never the original writer

If they are, what is wrong with my saying that the Catholic Church are the first people to compile the Bible?
Religion / Re: Does Each Bible Text Have A Fixed Interpretation? by charlsecy4(m): 1:23pm On Nov 18, 2012
Murder_X: The first step is to realize that the bible is not a holy book neither is it "the word of god". Its a book that you can read and make whatever meaning of as suits you.

Be careful. Being silent could be golden for you here!

k2039:

Though collections of sacred writings, varying in extent, existed in the various local Churches of Christendom, the canon or official list of Scripture was only compiled by the Church toward the end of the fourth century—at Hippo in 393, Carthage in 397, whence it was sent to Rome for confirmation in 419. The Bible may be called the notebook of the Church, and she has always claimed to be the guardian, exponent, and interpreter of it. . . .

By these Councils, the Bible we see today came into be. These Councils are Catholic. How do we know? Well, St. Ignatius of Antioch called the Christian Church Catholic. Let me quote him, "Where there is Jesus Christ, there is the Catholic Church."

The OT that was approved by the Church was the Septuagint the Greek translation of the OT. The Bible later on was translated into Latin by St. Jerome. The Latin Vulgate was its name. It included the deutronacanonical books, like Tobit, Maccebees 1 and 2, etc.

It was not until the Reformation that Protestants remove those books. The books which early Christians have read.

Your claim is laughable.

..... He also expressed displeasure with the perceived closeness of the CAN leadership to the corridors of powers. He said such alliance will weaken the ability of the church to speak the truth to elected public office holders. According to him: “CAN has become more visible in relation to national prayer sessions, pilgrimages, alliances with state power and so on. “Unless we distance ourselves, we cannot speak the truth to power. We cannot hear the wails of the poor and the weak. We should not be seen as playing the praying wing of the party in power.”

I was with a friend last Sunday. He said that the meaning of each verse in the Bible is non-specific, that it depends on "AS PER REVEALED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT" to the reader. He was like saying that two or more individuals could read a passage in the Scripture, and the Holy Spirit would reveal different meanings to the individuals.

So, let's discuss: Does Each Bible Text Have A Fixed Interpretation, or Does It Depend On What The Holy Spirit Reveals To The Reader?

dilbert100: predictive text is horrible..... ive never been able to get to grips with it.
No Qualms: Same with me, I dislike it sooo much.

I felt EXACTLY like you people when I first activated t9. I would say, "What sort of rubbish is this?", "How on earth do they expect me to type that word?" I said these because as I pressed the keys, they seemed to turn up unintended characters. For example, if I wanted to type "consult", before I could finish, such meaningless word as "accommon" might turn up, leaving me frustrated. I had to turn off the feature and adopt the traditional Multitap ABC. Then out of curiosity, interest and trial and error, I was able to learn the T9 feature. Very simple.

Today it is about the only text input method I use on my mobile phones.

Yes, if you have hypotension, you could up your salt intake. However, my initial comment suggesting low-salt intake is based on the fact that hypertension could be more dangerous and more prevalent!

All these people mentioning salt; is it really a good thing altogether? Salt elevates your blood pressure. Cut it down to the barest minimum! Most people who eat the food I prepared complain, "there is no salt in the food." I put very little salt, and my tongue is conditioned to that level, but "high-salt" people will never believe I added salt at all.

I love water, pepper and onions.

Business / Re: Banks Still Charge On Interbank ATM Transactions by charlsecy4(m): 8:04pm On Nov 15, 2012
*My opinion on the proposed removal of inter-bank ATM withdrawal charges*

For example, if you use a GTB-issued ATM card on an ATM serviced by First Bank, your account will be charged N100. There has been a directive that no charges will be incurred for such transaction anymore, and it's expected its implementation will soon commence.

Even though it's a welcome development from a consumer's standpoint, I am not completely in support of the policy for one reason.

The reason is that it's capable of reducing the efficiency of the ATMs. By this, I mean that banks will not be motivated to fund their machines, and they may also be lazy about doling out new machines.

Imagine. Banks A, B, C and D have ATMs in an area. Bank E does not have an ATM in the area. Banks A, B, C and D will spend their money to replenish their ATMs while customers from Bank E that has no ATM in the area will collect money from the ATMs, at no cost. What incentive does Bank E have with regard to installing an ATM in the said area, since her customers can freely make withdrawals from ATMs installed by other banks?

Nairaland / General / What Are The Overall Benefits Of Human Death? by charlsecy4(m): 7:24pm On Nov 15, 2012
Population control: Imagine since the time of, say, Abraham, people never died, how many people would be on earth today?! Death is good in the sense that it provides space for the living, and resources "fairly" available. China has a population of over one billion people, and it's a very large task for the government to adequately cater for, that it had to impose a one-child family size. People in Chinese urban areas are legally allowed to have only one child; a person living in a rural area could have a second child ONLY if the first issue is female, and with some exceptions and considerations!

Now, you can imagine if people didn't die, what greater mess the world would have been! Overpopulation! Food shortages, water scarcity, unimaginable debts, out-sized unemployment rate, colossal crime rate, environmental degradation, pollution, depletion of resources, wars, mass species extinction, outbreaks of diseases, restrictive laws, etc..

All the vices mentioned above are obtainable in our world today, but conjure up at what RATE they would have been available if people had not been dying! The world would have been, at BEST, a living hell, probably even worse.

Manure to the soil: The human body is bio-degradable; when buried, it decays and contributes to the nutrients of the soil. Good soil gives good-quality harvests.

What other GENERAL beneficial effects do you think human death provides?
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: ‘60% Of Nigerian Graduates Are Unemployed’ by charlsecy4(m): 5:46pm On Nov 15, 2012
isleman: .... a graduate was telling she is from Abeokuta state. She didn't even know she was wrong because she said it over again severally. Out of about 200 applications i went through only 42 could write a sound C.V....

The truth is that you can't judge a person's practical ability from their word of mouth. That a person can't write a proper CV doesn't necessarily mean they won't excel in the job, if employed. All those interviews and tests are mainly crowd control technique! If not, why were those tests not conducted in 1960's, '70s when company representatives were wooing fresh graduates to work in their company?
